We had a wonderful Christmas with the family , and it keeps going until New Year , too much food ... also limited on time to paint with little grandchildren in my studio and taking my computer over.
The end of December , in a full winter mode here , lots of country backyard look like this and probably will until spring . This is an older painting looking for a home. This scene might be nostalgic for someone , email me if you are interested ,

Just came back from Maine , a wonderful two days in the Camden area ,to see snow on the rocky coast was very pretty, all the villages decorated for the holidays ,it looked like a Christmas card everywhere. This was the scene yesterday morning on Owls head a very quint peninsula south of Rockland, I took lots of photos for future work , only had time to do this little one while there.
Our stay at the Inn was wonderful , I recommend this Inn if you are in the area The Hartstone Inn.
I want to wish all my followers and friends a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Nita

Having many old students on my Facebook I wonder if any of them will remember when we used to paint this scene , it was always a good exercise of wet on wet , these were younger grade students who are now in their late 20 early 30, they use to like doing this scene ,and did very well. So appropriate right now , as we are waiting for a major winter storm , it is very cold , it was 3 degree this morning when I went for a walk. email me, this is a sale painting

Le Quartier de Montmartre , a very popular area in Paris where all the artists have their kiosk.
Montmartre is a hill which is 130 meters high, giving its name to the surrounding district, in the north of Paris in the 18th arrondissement, a part of the Right Bank. Montmartre is primarily known for the white-domed Basilica of the Sacré Cœur on its summit and as a nightclub district.
It has been some years since I have been there ,I think it was when we took my future daughter in law at the time , we wanted to show her the city , coming from a small town in Maryland she was impress ! This scene is from one of my photos I took there . I always work with my own reference, I insist that I must have experience the area that I will paint later, I also never use someone else photo, unless it's a specific commission a collector wants .
email me if you are interested . Watercolors look very nice matted with a simple frame .

Getting close to the Holiday house tour , we had beautiful weather all week so I was able to do all my decorating outside wearing short sleeve , but now they are announcing a snow storm for tomorrow , the tour is on Sunday ! every room has had a good cleaning and makeover for this special occasion , I have done this before about 8 years ago , so I know what to expect. I remember a couple hundred people came in about four hours . The gallery looks great ! A nice way to show local residents what I do , people are sometimes timid to come in , I have been here as a gallery since 1985 I can believe where the time has gone !

I am so lucky to live in this gingerbread house who is also my art studio/ gallery , circa 1885 .
Thinking of using this painting as my Christmas card.
Today we had a wonderful thanksgiving dinner with the family , ate too much as usual !
telling myself I am not going to do this again ,the turkey comes out with all the trimmings and special sides , at that moment you have amnesia ,everything tasted so good , after that, you are just about in the coma ,that is what happen to all of us today! but was a great day .

Actually when I went to art school , many many years ago , that was my challenge for my acceptance , it was to depict the entrance of Jeanne d'Arc in Orleans . I remember to be a big task, we did not have all the resource we have now, but I made it , wish I still had this painting , but at the time it was kept for their archives . The old school was torn down and replaced with a beautiful new one and a wonderful museum , if you visit the city , it is well worth to see it.

Girl and soldier, saint and heretic, savior - since the time of her death, Jeanne has inspired thousands of historians, poets, and painters. Each of them tells a different story. Guided by what she thought were divine voices, Jeanne revived French fortunes in the Hundred Years' War. She played a major (and somewhat mysterious) role in rallying the flagging forces of Charles VII against the English occupier in 1429, leading her troops to breaking the siege of Orléans and having Charles VII officially crowned king in Reims the same year. She was later captured and sold to the English, who burned her at the stake for heresy and perjury in 1431, in Rouen France. Her death only made her more powerful.

that of Joan of Arc, the Maid of Orléans. Orléans is a lively trading town (agricultural products and industry) and a good base for excursions to the Châteaux in the Loire.
During the Hundred Years' War, in 1428-1429, it was the last French stronghold, then under siege by the English, but was relieved on May 8, 1429 by a French army led by Joan of Arc. This marked a turning point in French fortunes. A festival in her memory is held annually on May 7 and 8.
The town was badly damaged during the Wars of Religion and during the Second World War, but has since been rebuilt.

My favorite place to stay while in Paris, and like I said in the previous post ,this was the time of year I use to go to France. this is why i am painting France right now
The fabled Latin Quarter. This neighborhood takes its name from the Sorbonne, where Latin was the common tongue for all students during the Middle Ages. The neighborhood has the feel of a small village and students mix freely with professionals in its winding streets. The rue Mouffetard is a primary artery where shops, international restaurants and student bars and cafés are found.

"Quilts for Sale " miniature oil on board 2,5x3,5 matted and framed in a 5x7, copyrighted
Nita Leger Casey,
I painted this after being in a Art and antique show , a great way to do people watching when you sit there all day , I always wanted to do a series of these typical scenes of should I buy this or not ? yesterday I reminded myself that I should continue to think about this. In a beautiful sunny day today this was my chores, put all the racks, tent ,tables, paintings away.
this small painting is framed and very reasonable at $100.00 , email me if you are interested .
