Winter marsh

6x8 pastel
copyrighted 2013
Nita Leger Casey
Boy is it cold outside! woke up to only a few degrees this morning ,went to 18 during the day and back down again tonight.
This is a scene I captured in town from my car and painted it in the comfort of my warm studio. Two years ago I had experienced painting Plein air in the White Mountains of New Hampshire at 14 below, so I know how it feel to be out in that kind of weather, I am glad I did it two years in a row,it was a challenge, but my arthritis couldn't take it anymore.
In this scene I liked the warm colors of the weeds and still the cool colors of the snow and icy waters.
this painting is available email me, nlcasey@charter.net $100.00 as is now ,when I frame it it will be $175.00

Winter farmhouse

Pastel 6x8 copyrighted 2013
Nita Leger Casey
I painted this old house last week as a small watercolor, and I went by the house after the snow storm and loved the way the branches had snow on them and framed the whole scene, today I  decided to do it in pastel. Boy is it cold outside tonight! just went out to put the light on for my chickens, only the second time this year so it's not that bad, and we are in New England and that's the way it is.
If you would like this pastel , email me  nlcasey@charter.net

Winter Stream #4

Pastel 20x25 ,copyrighted 2013
Nita Leger Casey
I must say I am having fun painting these winter scenes, also loving the large format after being on Daily Painters since 2006 and most of the time just painting small works, I feel a little liberated, I don't know how long it will last ? and how fast I will get these framed, just hoping clients will buy them as it and they can frame them themselves.
It's very hard to frame and try to please everyone.
This one is not totally finished ,would like to tweak a few things.
Pastel can be shipped sandwiched between foam board if you are interested.

Nita Leger Casey
Our snow is melting fast with this warm weather we are having but I am keeping up with my mood of painting these scenes in town before it all goes, actually today Tim and I took a Sunday drive to another favorite place of mine about 60 miles from here by the ocean thinking I would capture some snow scene there, no snow to be found! I did manage to get a few fog scene with some marsh land , also made a stop at a nice gallery in the town  of Newberryport. Clancy got to walk in town where many people gave him lots of attention, tons of dogs were out for a walk .
This particular scene of the frozen pond I could keep on painting it,i just love this place ,I love how the sun was coming through the shadows.
this painting is available now email me nlcasey@charter.net, $100.00

At the edge of the brook

6x8 pastel (c) 2013
Nita Leger Casey
From my winter series #3, I am still driving around to look  at some winter wonders! on this one I liked the reflections in the water, then I decided to use a different board, when you use pastels, it is amazing all the different papers and boards you could use, this one was a mat board I primed with a special medium called colourfix primer ,it gives you a fine tooth and perfect for for what I wanted  to achieved, this was a smaller one being a 6x8, the first two were large paintings who need to be framed properly.
this one is available now as a daily painting, and easy to ship, if you are interested in this one email me nlcasey@charter.net

Winter path

Pastel 6x8
(C) 2012
Nita Leger Casey
Well winter has arrived in New England, we have a nice white blanket of snow, I do love the look of it ,it has a magical look about it and for a pastel artist, I think it's perfect! It was also perfect for my grandchildren who came over for the Christmas week, being from Maryland they sure had fun going sledding, now as for me I love the look but i don't like to walk on the icy part that comes with it, I did not mind it when I was younger, but now I am always afraid I will fall, the fun of getting older ! Yesterday Clancy and i decided to go for a car ride instead and took some beautiful photos of steams, woods, paths etc.. so i hope to work from then in the week to come, I might go back to some spots to start them as well and finish them at the studio, will see what the weather looks like .
This one is available for $100.00 free shipping in the US. email me nlcasey@charter.net
