Harbor regulars in Gloucester
(c) watercolor 5x7
Nita Leger Casey
What a night we had last night! with over 60 miles an hour high winds , the coast had it worst and still have no power in many towns in the area .
I had painted these boats during the week from the town of Gloucester , we had stopped over last week and I took a few photos , I have painted some of these boats before actually on location at a better time of the year like Spring . It's a wonderful town to capture the New England fishing life , these boats have characters, they are like old man who have wrinkles ,they have lots of rust that tell the hard life they go through.

Walking the dog watercolor 5x7 (c) 2010
Nita Leger Casey
Well ,we had a very gloomy day of snow and rain today, missed my Breakfast Club friends , we meet every Wednesday at Borders , have done it for years , the weather was just too bad to venture out today . So I painted and also spent a lot of time on the computer ,it's amazing how you can go from one thing to another and the hours just fly by .
This is another street scene , this time in Portsmouth , very old and Colonial , I painted this scene in a very loose style, harder than painting details .
This town has the most dog walkers of any town I know .
if you are interested in this painting email me nlcasey@charter.net
these watercolors are a nice way to start a collection of original work at a reasonable price .
reward yourself with an original !

"Post card from Cape Ann "
watercolor 5x7 original watercolor (C)2010
Nita Leger Casey
Street scene #4 of my series of Cape Ann , while I was working on this , I taught! OK this looks like a post card , as an artist it's kind of looked down painting like a post card , but this town is a touristic town and it looks like a post card , so here it is , it's not like I was working on a huge masterpiece for a show . it certainly would be a nice addition to someone who has summered there and has nice memories of the place . email me if you are interested nlcasey@charter.net

"The Gallery" watercolor 5x5 (c) 2010
Nita Leger Casey
It sure felt like Spring was around the corner today , it was a beautiful sunny day.
Started my day going to breakfast with Tim to one of his favorite place in Nashua , and after took my car to Jiffy lube , it's always an experience going there ,Tim usually takes it and does it for me , but I am the chauffeur now! So if you have gone there you know how they operated I must say they have to be the best salesmen , I wish I could be like them selling my paintings ! it was kind of funny listening to the guy with every costumers , well $150.00 later my car was ready for another 3000 miles , now the regular price of oil change is $ 29.95, so I would say he certainly did a good job with his salesmanship.
Artists need to take there courses!
So later on this lovely afternoon , I painted this scene of last Sunday in Rockport, my # 3 street scene of this quint village , like I said yesterday Rockport has many galleries with many very accomplished artists .

Bearskin Neck in winter ,watercolor 6x6 (c) 2010
Nita Leger Casey
I posted yesterday that we took a ride to Rockport , a winter stroll on Cape Ann! the locals had come out for a sunny Sunday walk. If you have visited this little art community in the summer it looks a little different , many shops were not open , I think they open around Easter, when my son Patrick was younger I would take him during spring break just to drag him to all the galleries , he was happy as long we had a meal and ice cream somewhere in town .
Well I think we are finely getting snow tomorrow, about time! the rest of the country had plenty and none here , it is New England !

"Thinking about it " miniature 2,5x3,5 oil on board
Nita Leger Casey sold
Here is another one of my Museum series , this scene was from the Worcester museum , a few years ago .
Tim and I went for a nice Sunday afternoon ride to the ocean, Rockport was our destination ! I just love to breath the fresh ocean breeze ounce and awhile , it was well worth the drive a nice sunny day ,no snow ! but I guess it's coming . We are very fortunate to live where we are , it take an hour to be at the ocean Cape Ann ,or an hour to be on the coast of Maine an hour to be in the great mountains of New Hampshire , an hour to be in Boston , the museum etc... I just love New England!
I managed to also paint a small watercolor there of a small beach by Gloucester.

"Late afternoon on the farm " (C)2010 6x6 on board
Nita Leger Casey
I so want to go back and paint outside right now , the lack of time has left me a bit frustrated and so as the lack of snow. Today I had to go to Jaffrey NH to pickup a painting from a show , while driving I just wanted to pull over and paint well it is not that easy , places that I have done that before are now packed with ice , we are supposed to get a storm tomorrow , hopefully it will cover the ugly parts of winter, the roads are so frost damaged , I thought I was on a Disney ride.
After my drive and errants I had to do , I managed a painting in the studio of a farm up in Sugar Hill, painted with artistic licence, I wanted that late afternoon glow !

Mt Washington, NH (c)2010
8x10 oil on canvas ,

It certainly was hard leaving this beautiful place in the White Mountains and the new friends I made , it was a real experience i never imagined I could do, paint in 10 below 0 , on top a huge mountain , the third day it was a little warmer 14 degree but the wind came in the afternoon then it was like 20 below . My body was warm all the time but my toes was another story, these warmer packs you put in your shoes did not work, the other challenge was painting with heavy gloves , I wipes out a lot of areas before i got use to it ,we were outside from 9 AM to 12 watching Stapelton Kearns doing his demo , took an hour lunch break and went back out until 4:30 PM.to paint , 2 -16 x20 and one 8x10 was produced in these three days Great workshop great teacher , and very happy to have done it, this was the painting i did before leaving . If you are brave, I recommended it .
