The Blue Inn by the sea
Took my 150 miles round trip to take down my April show, most of the paintings are back in their boxes or bags ,ready to travel to another place where hopefully they will find a home . It's amazing how many walls ,parks ,fairs ,galleries one painting will travel, evenly someone will love them and take them home. Every artists dreams of that day! it's like children and they even cost money, photos ,brochures, slides ,entry fees . I don't think the general public is aware of this ! When they do get adopted, they become an investment in someones life and bring them joy and tranquility, one advise , BUY ORIGINAL ART!
Another small watercolor sketch done on location last summer.

Cottage on the hill
This was a study, done on location this past summer, for a larger painting ,witch I later painted. but sometimes the sketch captures exactly what you wanted, and this was the case, the end of the day with a bright sun light on the cottage . I love to do those small sketches on location just about anywhere , with no large set up. I am hoping to achieved this next week in France
tomorrow I will drive to take my show down , it has been a month! it sure went fast.
The show will be in Hollis, NH for the month of June.

On a sunny day in Portsmouth Last night after watching my friend Nancy paint in watercolor , I had the urge to do also. I used to paint mostly in watercolor until a couple years when I went back to oils after 20 years .You know how it is? we follow trends , I still sketch a lot in watercolor and do commissions work . People will often ask me ,what is your favorite medium? and my answer, I love it all! I guess it's like food, I cannot think of one particular food I don't like , and that believe me it's a problem!
This was a fun painting to do, I also was with a group of friends, and we all painted something different .

Sketch of Strawberry Banke

Took a Sunday ride to Portsmouth to see how the show was going at the gallery. It was a beautiful day, so I took the time to also walk around the Historic District of Strawberry Banke an do some sketching of all these wonderful old homes. We finished our day driving down the New Hampshire cost road on to Hampton and had a wonderful supper at the Old Salt. It was a perfect Sunday!

So for today all I have a 8x10 sketch in Watercolor.

My Irish boy!

I was listening to the Boston Marathon while painting this morning , our friends made it and did well.

My good Irish boy was by my side, we didn't walk this morning because of the rain . I picked this photo to work from, this was last summer, he was worried about me while I was in my kayak, keeping an eye on me . If anyone has a Wheaten terrier, will know how they are!
He is a great model.

Molly on rocking chair

This is my cat Molly, every time I plan a still life painting with a quilt , she wants to be in it. My vision was something else , but why fight it? she does it all the time. she is now 17 years old, she is a bit spoiled these days, gets expansive food, only gourmet for her, she is truly an artist cat because she has so many colors , I never get tired of painting her. Today i painted this with some friends, we all worked on something different.and truly enjoyed it.

Maple syrup buckets
I got up this morning exited to go back to the same spot I was yesterday to capture the buckets on the trees, and believe me, I was lucky! because they later removed them for the season. We are also getting more snow in a day or two, so I did enjoy the plein air today, met some nice people while painting and found a great country store to have a warm cup of coffee, all in a day's work of a plein air artist!
This is a 8x8 oil on canvas , not available at the moment, being entered in a show .

By the bay #3

Today I had the pleasure to be a judge a local art exhibit . It was very nice, a good mixture of work, a bit of a challenge to be fair with everyone , but at the end I think it worked out well for all the artists in the show, I hope they will be happy ! they have a dedicated leader and that's what it takes for a local group to survive these days . Good luck Silvana!
