Knowing it was going to snow last Thursday I was prepared with a still life arrangement in my kitchen , I had bought the flowers for that reason ! sure enough it snowed all day and still snowing tonight two days later. It had been a longtime since I worked on a still life painting, I really used to do them all the time when I was painting for greeting cards, I felt a little rusty doing it, my style is so much looser now, I had to stop myself trying to fix it, during the process of painting this I realize I love my studio away from the house, too many distraction at the house. email inquiry

The sun was shinning so bright on of my front garden , I couldn't pass the opportunity to paint this scene ,of my beautiful parlor window, I feel so lucky to live in a old house in New England ! the Spring only last a couple weeks ,so they was no time to waist , with the lilacs in the background the fragrance is unbelievable.
Yesterday's Newburry street sold to a collector in Alabama , always happy to know my paintings finds a good home ! Like i said ," collecting originals is a good thing!"

I went to my friend's house who had a model for us to paint, a challenge for me who does not do many portraits , I did have fun doing it in watercolor , it does take lots of practice to get the likeness of a person ,and I need more before I post them , I better stay with flowers and buildings. for today I am posting a painting from my collection and would really would love to find a home for this one .

We finely had our Artists Breakfast Club today , the weather did not stop us today , we are planning a group show next month , we had a lot to talk about , it's always nice to see your art friends , we all speak the same language call painting! we also had a few critiques of paintings brought by some members , a different eye is also helpful .

#500 post , The Gingerbread art studio , copyrighted 2008


Last night I was going to post and looked at the Post # and it was 500, so I decided to wait a day and paint something special for the day . I woke up to a beautiful clear and sunny day when it came to me to paint my house and my studio , so after breakfast I set up the easel on the front lawn and got going with the morning light . I can't believe that I have posted 500 paintings!
Where did the time go? it has been a wonderful journey into my life and hope to continue ,

This is Victoria in her younger days . Today I adopted two more chickens from an elderly man who was going into a nursing home ,my daughter in law adopted a couple also , they are two Rhode Island red , they are not with the other ones yet , I am waiting for dark to put them in, hopefully the other ones will accept them , they will have to go trough the rules of the old ones , the rooster George will be happy !

Blue door from Kennebunkport, Maine copyrighted 2008 After finishing my first painting for the auction , I took another walk around the village and found this attractive blue door ,so I went ahead and set up my easel at a certain distance and painted the door , tourist came by telling me I was doing a good job, and also asking me for directions for places in town , I could of been a tour guide that day! what fun it is to paint in a beautiful coastal village and meet all the people from all over .

From Sara's garden, copyrighted 2008 My neighbor and friend Sara always grows the most beautiful flowers every year , and these poppies borders my yard ,another spring flower that does not last long. Hope all the father's had a nice day today! the weather was a bit dreary today , but nothing like these poor families in the Midwest.

The Spring flowers are in full bloom now ,last night we had a rain storm and a lot of them were down ,so I am on a rush to paint them , these flowers do look good as watercolors , I might do a few in oil , not sure yet ? I am working for a few shows right now ,so we will see if I have time to do some .

A simple day Lily

In Maine relaxing , very unusual for me ! just spending quality time and taking care of the dogs who are at my side all the time, also enjoying my kayak .I did do a small very simple watercolor of a day lily .

Wild Beach roses


This afternoon I painted my daily painting of some wild roses I took a picture of last week while on the coast.
Tonight I went to an early 4th of July celebration in the town of Kingfield Maine, where the Bangor Symphony was performing, it was great!

Flowers from my garden

Voila, a few flowers from my garden , I brought my vase with me to capture my fresh flowers. I use my gallery sitting time to paint my daily painting while also meeting very nice people of the town of Hollis,NH . The gallery owner Kevin has also been very nice with tips about framing , his shop is very people friendly ,anyone in the area should use his expertise on framing if they are looking for one.
I will be in Kennebunkport on Sunday painting in Plein Air. Auction after!
