Denise's bed

 Denise's bed,©2018Nita Leger Casey
Watercolor
While at the Inn at our February Art retreat, Denise and I rented this beautiful room with twin bed and this is when I decided to do a bed series, I painted this one there, just a small one 4x5 .  I have many other beds to do, but also have to paint a few commissions in between, so it is taking me a little longer then I though. So stay tunes!

Finely home from my travels and need to post again! I sometimes post on Facebook and then in Instagram but it is not the same as a blog .

Then I made a quick trip to Maryland to visit my son and his family
So now I need to get serious and get back to my routine of painting daily!
and also thinking Summer fun at the ocean like this nice Lobster boat I passed this summer while in my son's boat on the Saco River in Maine .

Sketch on the day I went and sketched the Lighthouse, it was a beautiful day with some nice breaking waves, and the best way to capture this was a quick sketch of a combination of watercolor and  gouache . In my sketchbook !

Nubble Lighthouse

I am fortunate to live in a beautiful area of New England, an hour and half drive North East  and I am at the beach in Maine, an hour drive North ,I am in Beautiful mountains of New Hampshire . So when a nice sunny day is coming before a storm, I like to get in a car for a drive and call it Winter therapy.
Right now, I am enjoying just sketching in my new sketch book , using gouache and ink.
I have painted this light house many times and never get tired of it .

let the Sunshine in !

Let the Sunshine in
5x7 watercolor ©2018
Nita Leger Casey

Wish I could of let the sunshine in today, it was a dreary rainy and icing all day, and not able to go outside, even my poor dog had a hard time walking on this ice.
So I was better off painting something that made me dream of a sunny day .
Interiors are always a challenge trying to keep it simple, to make the light most important .

Bluebird

Bluebird  Sold
Acrylic and ink
6x6.©2018
I have been fascinated these last few weeks with all the birds who come and visit my feeders daily, and the ones who only come just ounce and awhile like the bluebirds, mostly in the winter. I had captured this one on my deck on a pot of mixed greens and berries. I have taken beautiful photos of so many of them, it was actually funny this morning I must had 15 doves looking at the kitchen window, like saying the feeder is empty! a squirrel comes earlier and does a job on the food!
this one is available , email me : nlcasey@charter.net

Dunstable farm

Dunstable farm ©2018
#2 sketch
I was on my way back from the studio a couple days ago  and this very familiar farm I see daily said, please sketch me today! I love when my sketches are from that moment when it hits me like i have to do this now, so I did! a sketch is really a simple drawing and not trying to do every details, it can be a challenge for me as I love details .  Adding the white gouache gives you that cold feeling of the moment .
These sketches are in my book , but if you look at this blog, I have plenty paintings who need a home, so feel free to email me if you see some  you like .

First sketch of the year !

From my window
©2018 Nita Leger Casey
First I would like to wish all my followers a Happy New year! I think I have been blogging for 11 years now, how is that possible? where did the time go!
This past year has been a tough one for me after loosing my husband. I didn't get to blog that much, so many things I had to attend too.  I couldn't of made it without my wonderful family and my very supportive wonderful artists  friends.
Well we started this year with this very cold weather, and still going with a storm at our doorsteps . I wanted to challenge myself  with a new start with just sketching this month ,so here is the first one done from my window, enjoy!
more to come...
