Wild Beach roses


This afternoon I painted my daily painting of some wild roses I took a picture of last week while on the coast.
Tonight I went to an early 4th of July celebration in the town of Kingfield Maine, where the Bangor Symphony was performing, it was great!

Quoddy State park,

W.Quoddy lighthouse I have painted this lighthouse a few times , I have spend my summers in the area of Maine for the last fifteen years, a beautiful place for an artist to plein air paint .

St Ann Church in Ocean Ave , Kennebunkport Maine

Demo painting
This was a demonstration painting done for an Art organization , only had one hour to do it so it is very loose but to the point , many small cottages like this on the coast of Maine .

Arrived too late last night after all day painting in Kennebunkport , the painting was auctioned after for a good cause , The Heartwood college of Art, it was a fun day and beautiful weather, talked to a lot of tourist and artists while doing my painting of a street scene.

Flowers from my garden

Voila, a few flowers from my garden , I brought my vase with me to capture my fresh flowers. I use my gallery sitting time to paint my daily painting while also meeting very nice people of the town of Hollis,NH . The gallery owner Kevin has also been very nice with tips about framing , his shop is very people friendly ,anyone in the area should use his expertise on framing if they are looking for one.
I will be in Kennebunkport on Sunday painting in Plein Air. Auction after!

Down East cottage by the sea

Fresh strawberries

In our way home last night , a farmer in town had his strawberries for sale on a table ,the honor system ! what a wonderful way to buy fresh fruit from that day. Before I washed them I knew , I wanted to paint them with my favorite old French towel , it just reminds me of home when I grew up, all kitchen towels looked like that , blue or red.

Always in love

Taking a few days off in the woods of Maine , just relaxing, walking Clancy and just taking in the beauty around me of future paintings , the lupins are everywhere , the fields are also full of yellow buttercups. I managed to do my daily of a very nostalgic moment of neighbors who use to walk by often .

Wild roses by the Seashore Beautiful day, I was at the gallery for a few hours and worked on this pastel of a photo I took last summer in Maine when the tide was in .I think the contest has started in Daily Painters to paint 2000 paintings this month, this will be #1 for me , but it is actually #200 since November .

Plein Air on Campobello


Going to the ocean last Sunday has made me wanting to go to my favorite place in Maine , this will be at the end of July ,early August when I will joined all my Artist friends , and I certainly can't wait! This past Spring a new group was founded by Micheal Chesley Johnson , called Plein Air Fundy , this will be our first show as a group in the town of Lubec ,exiting!

I have been painting there for fourteen years with The tide Mill Artists , I know the area quite well, with endless places to paint!

Cutler fishing boats

I took a day off yesterday , had the pleasure to go with my artist friends to a American Watercolor Society exhibit in Gloucester, MA at the North Shore Art association where the traveling show is making a stop. It's always a pleasure to see the best of the best in watercolor. The weather was also beautiful , the location of the North Shore gallery is such of a beautiful spot, overlooking the harbor of Gloucester, so much history there! I really wanted to paint, I have painted in the area before , it's only about an hour from where I live.

I am posting a watercolor of fishing boats , I painted in Maine in the small village of Cutler
this was painted on location ,this village is very picturesque the fog comes in and out, I love to go there in the summer.

Parlor window

I did get a chance to finish this pastel, I didn't think I would because I was having a new kitchen window put in , due to the rain they went home , that give me time to finish it and stay away from the garden also , always so much to do, I keep saying that I will not plant one more thing ,but seems to manage to find some new plants.

On the easel , in progress While being at the gallery, I started this painting , I am at the beginning stage with the hard pastel blocking in some of the colors , establishing my lights and dark , the scene is of a house next to the gallery. The rhododendrons are so nice now! but I will paint them last.

The month of June ,the show has travelled to another location , only a few miles from my house in Massachusetts.

Saturday 10am to 2pm. I hope to plein air paint in the area of Hollis , being a beautiful new England village.Today it was a very stormy and dreary day , rained all day! so I am hoping for some great weather all month.

The old timer If you have been reading my blog or at least followed my work , you must have noticed my love for old houses, ever since I was a young girl , I have drawn houses on every piece of paper I could find . living in New England has been wonderful for me, I never run out of subject like these old timers.
