Hamilton cove ,pastel

Pastel 16x20 copyrighted 2013
Nita Leger Casey
Thinking of Summer made me paint this scene, I was looking through some quick sketches I had done on location, I knew I wanted to paint them again and this one was one of them, I love this small cove in Maine where my friends and I go every summer. Sure wish Spring was here for tomorrow but no such luck we must of got 14 inches of snow today and still  coming down ! today was my youngest son's birthday and thirty eight years ago he was born during a snow storm in Germany and I remember to be it as bad as today!
Any paintings you see on my blog are available, just email me for details nlcasey@charter.net

The Chelmsford Demo
This was a demonstration I was to do tonight for the Chelmsford Art society in Massachusetts, but it is snowing like mad right now and we had to cancel , I was really looking forward to see some familiar faces in the group , Sorry! next time .
This was my practice painting for tonight, the scene is in the coast of Maine , the place I love the most and spend every summers there, this scene can be in so many different part of the coast.
Our other group of local artists called the Breakfast Club is doing this scene also ,has to beat the winter blues from one of my photos , if the storm is past I will meet them in the morning and we will critique our paintings.

Old Quoddy Head Coast Guard Station

The good weather is here, and I hope to stay!

Worked on many different painting project today, I had layout the ground work last night on the painting I am posting today, I took a picture last year of this old Coast Guard Station up in Quoddy. it happen that my brother in law was stationed there in the 60's. Again I just love that red roof and it kind of remind it me of a Hopper style , I find myself painting a lot of his very familiar subject, but then again, he loved the State of Maine .
This is a 6x6 oil painting $ 100.00, perfect gift for someone who has lived there at one time in his life . Email me nlcasey@charter.net
