On the coast of Maine
This is a miniature painting alla prima study for a larger one , that is about the short time I have to work these days with my busy life . I painted a pastel on location Plein air last summer, and always wanted to do an oil . May I tell you it is snowing again! I am not painting another snow scene no matter what . Next week I will be at a different location with new landscape .

The Chelmsford Demo
This was a demonstration I was to do tonight for the Chelmsford Art society in Massachusetts, but it is snowing like mad right now and we had to cancel , I was really looking forward to see some familiar faces in the group , Sorry! next time .
This was my practice painting for tonight, the scene is in the coast of Maine , the place I love the most and spend every summers there, this scene can be in so many different part of the coast.
Our other group of local artists called the Breakfast Club is doing this scene also ,has to beat the winter blues from one of my photos , if the storm is past I will meet them in the morning and we will critique our paintings.

Time for Green tea

This past week has been a challenge for me with a trip to Portland, the kitchen project, snow storm, family and more . I think this coming week will be the same , the cabinets are up , now I am painting the walls , I have changed the color twice already I can't make up my mind , the color looks great on the small swatch but on the walls looks terrible , as an Artist you would think I knew better. I will a guest speaker and do a demonstration for the Chelmsford Art society on Tuesday , I think I will talk about daily painting!

The Pastel painters of Maine and New Hampshire were invited to sketch the Ballerina's in practice, it was a great honor and privilege to see the very talented young Ballerina's pose for us , I was able to do a few quick sketches and hope to use for future paintings.

I have not posted for a few days ,due to all my commitments with the kitchen project , we are near the end and it is looking good. A trip to Portland Maine a two hour ride from here , but it was a wonderful day and well worth it , I really want to paint these beautiful ballerinas , but it will have to wait. Today another snow storm , they keep on coming.....

Plum Island, sea weeds stacks Last week I had taking a quick trip to Plum Island for a drive , it's about an hour from my house , a great way to get to the ocean and visit Newberryport ,MA in the same time . A lovely town with art galleries. This painting is from my last trip there , I made it a bit more a fall day then winter, but I have been there at that time so I know what it looks like, they always have the stacks there from weeds from the march.
I am still working on the kitchen project , but coming along good , hope to be finish soon.

Yesterday's rose
This was really my valentine's rose , painted during the terrible ice storm we had yesterday , woke up this morning to 5 inches of ice so frozen ,and not able to move . Oh well, it is New England and we should be used to it , but we got spoiled the last few years with mild winters.
it made a perfect day to paint my Valentine rose.

La tourette I painted this scene the last trip I went to see my mother before she passed away ,It had been a long time since I had seen snow in France . My nephew and I walked the intire village ,This small tourette stands in the entrance of the town , and I really didn't know why ? until my nephew said it used to be an old toll station , in the old days you use to have pay a tax if you were bringing livestock into the town. When you grow up you take all the history of the past for granted. we always learn something !
it was a nice crisp morning , oil on canvas 4x5 framed

Le village de StJulien
I just love the red clay roofs in France ,they are such a beautiful rich earthy color. This was the next village where my mother lived, One day I would like to go back as a tourist painter , I would spend weeks and weeks there with so many obligations to all my relatives and no time for myself. I could paint Plein air every day in this small town .It's on my list to do!
