I am back! I was in France for ten days with all attentions of painting and blogging, but it did not happen,I visited with my family and had a wonderful time, I visited with 26 relatives and 15 friends, lots of catching up on a few years not being there, some friends were from my school days so it was a lot of years! the weather was not the greatest,but managed to still take a lot of photos to work from.We had snow a couple of the days ,it had been so many years since I had experienced snow there, I am used to it living in New England but it was still nice to see the difference in the landscape. A lot of wonderful meals not weight watchers and I enjoyed every bit of it .
So today was my first day going to my studio to painting this scene, just a simple village! just liked the way the sun was hitting the buildings .

Another castle, this Medieval one is in the Sologne region where my family come from, it's a private castle , open to the public at times , this is the entrance from the moat, the main part has a lot of towers , beautiful architecture and beautiful grounds .

In France most poeple in rural towns dry their clothes and sheets and tablecoths on the line outside , a great way to conserve energy! off course the new mothers of today do have dryers .
This house was in in the town were my mother lived for many years in the Sologne region.

Gone fishing ! While visiting my brother last week , I came upon this scene just around the corner from his house , this retired man looked so cute and relaxed fishing , father's day is coming soon and a lot of fathers probably would like to go fishing .

Chateau de Sully
It is taking me time to get back to my routine after my trip. Today I did paint my Daily Painting of this castle, located very near to where I grew up , actually castles are everywhere, when you live in the Loire Valley! I really didn't like them because we would visit them so often with school trips , family outings etc.. it got to be boring and they would smell , of course I didn't realised I was so lucky, as a child you never appreciate the things that are around you. This particular castle is next to the bridge that crosses the Loire river in the town of Sully . One of my relatives used to work there as a care taker and lived in the front tower .

Hotel Parc Saint- Severin

Our last night in Paris was at this quint Hotel in the "Quartier Latin" A place I try to visit every year, close to a lot of fun things to do and see , perfect area for an Artist to stay!

Ten days flew by, I was happy to see the family but most of all was happy to go to the Orleans Museum , It is actually where I went to school over 40 years ago. The Museum has a wonderful collection for a city that size. The town was getting ready for the Joan of Arc festivities on May 8Th. , all the flags and flowers were everywhere, beautiful city if anyone has the chance to visit France, with lots of history witch I took for granted growing up. I have posted a few photos on the right.

I am not painting as much as I want because of too many family gattering, and big dinners . I did take a lot of pictures , I really want to paint so bad , but my family have so many plans for me. in a few days I will be more free and hope to escape.

Orleans , France

When you go away for a few days, you pay with all the work you have piled up, commissions, projects , marketing with the show that is coming up. One good thing I had a small painting started so I did get to finish it . So here it is, this is my home town of Orleans,France . I went to school right next to the cathedral the town sits on the edge of the Loire river, also the town is famous for the Joan of Arc history, that was my assignment to get into Art School ,to depict her coming into town . I did OK , I got in the school ,that was a long time ago!

Paysage de France

I am getting ready for the show next month , I will have in Portsmouth, NH at the Robert Lincoln Levy gallery. Yesterday I drove out there 140 miles round trip to see the room I will share with two other Artist, we each have a wall, my show has a theme , "The Back Roads of France" I just ordered my cards , today I ordered the frames , All this takes time! the show for me, is a culminations of work done every time I visited my Mother these last few years before she passed away at the age of 100 . If you live in the area be sure to visit the Gallery on State street the month of April , I will update this blog on the show , a few more times before it happens.

This scene was on my morning walk there, a small duck pond, a very serene pasture.

This is my niece's cat, who lives in a restaurant and loves to hide under the table , it wouldn't be acceptable in the US, but in France cat and dogs are very spoiled ,they rule!

Le Chemin , The path

I have a feeling people are sick of snow!

I have put aside my snow scene series for awhile.

This is a scene that I have walk many times ,{Le Chemin} translation the path , It was located closed to my mother's house in France , at the end of this path I was always sure to find the morning fog. Europe has a lot of fog!
