 I recently spent a few days in the area of Biddeford pool, Maine .What a lovely place, so many beautiful scenes to paint, I actually already painted this one in a watercolor but I wanted to try a different medium ,this one is smaller a 3x4 on a panel .Looks great sitting on a easel!

 I have been away in Maine, took a break from painting and worked on some other craft  like Quilting !
 But on my way back I stopped  to visit my children on the coast, I took a nice walk in this sanctuary with my daughter in law , just love the rocky coast of Maine.

This small painting has been one of my favorite, because I captured the atmospheric feeling  that I wanted  in a 4x5. I have been there so many times when the sunset is going down and it is just beautiful!

Happy 4th of July " Pemaquid "

I painted this last month on location at the Pemaquid lighthouse , I saved it to post for the 4 th of July week end, it just has that feeling of a family 4 th of July holiday visit to a famous lighthouse on the coast of Maine, I had fun painting this scene with some friends in a mini art retreat, we stay there in a beautiful Antique hotel  with other artists who enjoy painting as I do. Actually will be going back in a couple weeks with another group of friends, I just love the coast of Maine!

 After my recent trip to Pemaquid , I wanted to paint this little one. While I was there I did a watercolor on location ,will post it tomorrow ,but I always wanted to do an evening one.
That scene is about the hour my friends and I come out of the restaurant located next to the light house, it's always so beautiful with the light on, and many different sky behind, sunset, fog, many different colors and always different!

This was painted a couple years ago, but I would love to find a home for this one,this bell tower is located next to the lighthouse, a very popular destination in Maine. It would make a nice present for someone who collects lighthouses .

Busy with family these days , so my painting time is rationed , hopefully tomorrow I will paint ,but for today I am posting an older painting ,one that I always liked and would be happy to find a home for. I am also preparing for my big trip to the International Art Symposium in Canada . Looking at the map it's a 500 miles trip . I will be painting for three days there in front of a large audience , I am a bit apprehensive about it , lots to prepare ! check the website on my blog .

My friends and I have just finished two days of painting lighthouses on Campobello Island, we ended the two day challenge with a small art show,very nice week end and met lots of nice people and artists.

The challenge is on today! of all the lighthouses in Maine and Canada, I painted this one yesterday in watercolor ,this lighthouse is on the Canadian side over looking the town of Lubec in US. more to come tomorrow......

Nubble building in York, Maine While my relatives were here I took them to the Nubble lighthouse in York ,Maine . a beautiful day it was and took lots of photos, this was one of them , i decided to paint the buildings separately, this is #1 ,I love the rocks there , I have painted the lighthouse many times ,the first time was 1984 with my daughter before she went to college ,then another time with my grandson who I used to take to the ocean for the day . The scene is very familiar and very touristic.

Portsmouth lighthouse
I always talked about Portsmouth in my blog, well here is a very familiar scene in the harbor . This week end was the opening of a show I have there, for the month of April, lots of People came through ,I hope they enjoyed the show, I live in Massachusetts ,but find myself painting a lot of scenes on the coast of New Hampshire and Maine. this is a larger painting

East Quoddy Lighthouse

Not only you try to paint everyday, but you also have many other obligations, and one of them is planning your year for exhibiting at different places , and today was one of those days , I now have the month of April , June, August and September covered !

For the last two days I have posted my House Portraits and today I will post one the beautiful light house I have done in the past.

I am very fond of the ones on the Bay of Fundy. This one is the East Quoddy lighthouse , located on Campobello Island, NB. where President Franklin D.Roosevelt had his summer home. This is an original watercolor 16x22 ,
