Red New England barn

I have a feeling snow is coming soon, just got word it is snowing in Maine, so I felt like posting a painting that needs a home for the holidays, maybe this barn reminds you of a farm that has memories to you, or you just love red barns as I do.
I am now getting ready for two week ends of open studios, Saturday and Sunday, the building is just bursting with beautiful work, fine art and crafts gifts of all kinds medium and style.

I had a wonderful Thanksgiving with my Son and his family who live in the same town as us,he had made a Turducken, (a turkey stuff with a duck and a chicken ) it sure was a success!
Today being Black Friday the last thing I wanted to do was going to the stores with all these people pushing you, the weather was beautiful it went up in the 60's for New England it is very good, I was dying to go Plein air Painting so I did just that! one in the morning and one in the afternoon, this one was the afternoon one,the morning one still needs some touch up.It sure felt good going out to paint.Pepperell has some nice farms,it's just a matter of being there when the right light is on them and a place to park.

Old New England farmhouse

We have got the worst ice storm the day before yesterday , all New England looks like a war zone , trees all over and thousands of people with no power , That night we could hear the trees falling all around us , we were the lucky ones, some of our neighbors had a lot of damage, a part of nature you can't predict. We are safe and all our relatives in the area.

Antique red Colonial

Hurray! we had a beautiful Spring day. I was in the yard cleaning and planting pansies, I kept a few back to do a painting ,but did not finish. I will post them tomorrow. what I am posting today is a painting I have done of a abandoned antique house in town ,this house has a lot of history, and I am sure one day soon it will be gone . I am very attached to the old structures in town .

The yellow farm house

It was the Art breakfast club meeting today at Borders, I was so exited to pick up "Art of the West "magazine and see my add in there . I know, I live on the East coast but it was a special for OPA members, never hurt to get exposure somewhere else .

Here is a typical New England farm house in our town , I just imagined in the old days the kids would walk to school in this snow covered road.

Another day of warm weather for the New England area, it does not feel like Christmas is around the corner. For the folks who like snow, look at my paintings and enjoy some of it !

I always liked to paint snow scenes .This little farm house is just a street over from where I live, I have painted this scene about three times in different seasons in the last twenty years .this is a gem! 6x12 oil

Artist statement

I am an Artist who has painted most of my life and enjoy every minute of it. My journey in the art world continually evolves keeping up with the time, I paint in many different medium and love them all. My collection of work is primarily in oils and I use watercolors for commissions, illustrations, and pastels for my own pleasure. My love for architecture shows in my work and many have compared my style with Edward Hopper. I feel honored to be compared with such wonderful artist. I paint daily in the studio and plein air when weather permits. I try to paint from life as much as possible. Last year I gave up teaching art after thirty years of private classes and, now enjoy my former student’s accomplishment in the arts. Many collectors around the world own my work and hope many more will in the future.

The best is yet to come – enjoy my journey!

Handy Hints to Successful Art Buying Online

You can make your online art purchasing experiences a lot of fun, and stress-free, if you just take a few moments to follow some tried-and-tested advice.
These hints will give you the very best chance of finding quality works of art, and receiving the art in perfect condition.

1) If you see a piece of art you like on a favorite artist's Blog, don't be afraid to request a couple more photos of the work. Most artists will happily oblige. You might like to see close-up detail of some section... or perhaps an image to confirm the coloring is consistent.

2) Look for the artist's email address. Apart from a direct email contact, artists often post contact phone numbers. They do this for a reason. They would like you to phone them. So do it! If you'll feel better talking to a 'real person' make the call. But I would always recommend making direct email contact with the artist.It's helpful to have a line of communication from the point when you make your purchase, to the point when the work is dispatched to you. Most artists also would like the opportunity to follow up and ensure the work has arrived safely. Don't simply place your order and make your payment. Take the opportunity to communicate with the artist. It will make the whole process run more smoothly.

3) Consider purchasing more than one piece of art at a time.If you fall in love with the work of a particular artist, consider purchasing a piece and leaving it with the artist. Then, when you see another work by the same artist you wish to purchase, ask for both pieces to be sent together. This will reduce freight costs considerably. Most artists will be happy to hold a paid artwork in storage, especially if they realize it's because you wish to purchase a second piece.

4) Email the artist and ask them if they have any artworks not yet posted on their blog.Some artists don't have the time to post every piece on their blog. Or some pieces are displayed, and then taken down after a time. It doesn't hurt to ask the artist to email images of any works they have in their 'stock room'.... and it can be a way to discover secret treasures.
