The reason I have not posted for a couple weeks, because I was working on this commission and others. The client picked it up today and was very happy, what a relieve!

I have not gone away, just down with a bad cold and the Holidays, on the good side, I was very happy to have all my family all together this Christmas 14 of them, it was a house full and still is ,
 a few have gone back to South Carolina, Grand son Carson my little artist is getting me going again , Let's paint grandma ! the only trouble is the studio at the house is a mess with everyone here , but we will try to get back in the routine .
This painting was done last year at snow camp in NH, no snow here in Mass this year ,it was 46 degree this afternoon,strange December but it's OK ,we will pay later I am sure!

Halloween House in New England

Last week I was driving through the town of Hudson, NH and was stopped at a red light when this house really caught my eye it just looked like Halloween season or maybe haunted, I loved the strong light on it, I know the tree is in the middle but I think it added to the look of spooky ,anyway I just had  seconds to snap a photo  before the light turned green . I painted this at my studio today after having a nice lunch with my artists friends in the third floor.
Yesterday I had a terrible day after getting bit by a tiny deer tick again it was hooked on me for at least 18 hours , after many calls to doctor, nurses etc... I received a doses of antibiotics,I already have Lyme in my system from another bite a few years ago ,they are now very bad ,my neighbors got bit twice last week .

Hope everyone had a nice 4 th of July, we certainly did with family and friends and a great parade and cook out .
This painting was from my Friday plein air painting in Hollis NH, this small town square is surrounded with beautiful colonial homes , it was a beautiful sunny day with lots of shadows , we all painted different houses , it was fun , I think we are going back next Friday .

New England has very old trees , lots of them are maples , this one was probably planted when the house was build in the late 1800 , or early 1900 , this one also has a maple syrup bucket and a swing on it . I found this house in NH a few towns over from where I live . This painting was part of my collection , but I decided to put it for sale , so let me know if you are interested in this large watercolor that depict the season right now , March! nlcasey@charter.net.

Pride of America , Strawberry Banke, Portsmouth NH Historical neighborhood of Portsmouth, NH ,a wonderful place to visit and see how the settlers lived, who came to America in the 1700. A new generation of today is very proud to fly the flag and keep the historical memories alive.

Red colonial
We had a wonderful family day today , we took a ride in a horse drawn sleight ride trough the woods in a small town in NH , I really wanted to paint the scene , but we were 11 people in this ride ,our kids and grand kids , but I will make a trip back to capture the woods and the snow . actually it is snowing again tonight.

Red Apples We have beautiful apple orchards not very far from my house , the season is almost here where we will go pick these apples ,I worked on this from a photo I took a few years ago .
Today I also put up a small pastel show at the Hollis, NH Library it will be there for the month of September.

Temple, NH New England Glassworks {1780}
I have been working in a commission , of a vision of a place that does not exist anymore with no reference photos, only rubles of a stone foundation. The history goes told by Kevin Gendron, who has researched this with an extreme passion and recreated the scene for me to paint ,he is a collector of glass from the past.
Robert Hewes' established a glass works on the side of Kidder Mountain in Temple , NH during the spring of 1780 for the production of crown window glass, chemistry wares, bottles and other utilitarian hollow ware. Works burnt shortly after , then rebuilt and operated for only one batch when the furnace collapsed. The furnace was rebuilt in summer of 1781 after which production resumed until Hewes' moved to Boston sometime in 1782 , later became known as Boston Crown glass Co.

This was a challenge that I enjoyed working on , also made Kevin happy to add this painting to his collection.

Small French duck pond

Another rainy day! went to Breakfast club this morning to meet all my friends, came home to finished a painting and later getting ready preparing for a demo tomorrow night in Methuen, MA. I will take the opportunity to talk about daily painting , and do a still life in oil as well.
