I had a wonderful trip to Maryland  and nice visit with my children and grandchildren and watched a lot of baseball games, one grandson had two home run in one game, so I wanted to paint this for him . the one thing I came back with is a bad  case of bronchitis that has me tired, and the pollen in full bloom is not helping .Hopefully my life will get back to normal soon!

Here is another miniature who will part of my show next week. The show is about me traveling the streets of Lowell on my way to my studio ,it is amazing that this city has hundreds of houses just like this one,beautiful old home!streets after streets,some of course have seen better days but some have come back to life, I imaging younger families have moved in and giving them the care they deserve ,I love old homes! Remember the opening is on Nov.2 ,6 to 9 at the Loading Dock gallery.

In Maine for the week and did not get much painting done,I was busy socializing with friends,Kayaking, going to a play at Lakewood theatre in Madison with two good friends, and now just came down with a bad cold ,came out of no where and feeling terrible,many people told me it's going around not fun !I have been in the couch for two days.
I did paint a couple of miniatures,here is one  feeling guilty about it, you should see all the art material I brought .I will have catch up later after I get rid of this bad cold .
One nice thing happen while i was kayaking I took some great photos of a moose that was so close to me ,it was exciting,if you are my friend on facebook you can see them there .

Again working with a limited palette , I really like these colors ! this was a commission miniature , my collector loved  my cat Molly,  she was the best cat ever, we had her for 19 years , we still miss her after two years  gone, maybe one day we will get another one but I don't think I will ever find one as good as her.

Couple years ago I was painting at a farm in Maine who had a lot of chickens ,I took pictures of them and forgot about them until I was looking for something else and here he was a proud big rooster, having chickens I  am found  of them , a lot of people don't like roosters, but I must give them credit they watch their girls, will find food for them and call them never eat before they do ,watch the sky for predators, get them in the coop on time , my little rooster is busy all day ! of course he gets some perks with that! this one is for a client, but if you want one very similar as a miniature ,let me know .nlcasey@charter.net

Rainy day today ! we were lucky many areas had snow in New England .
Picked up Tim today from the hospital , good to have him home ,my painting time took the back seat this week ,so for today it is a miniature I had started this summer at the farm, I just did some miner touch up to it . Should get back to my routine , also have lots of framing to do for a few shows coming up , never enough time in a day for me .

Not posted for a few days , we came back from our trip in Maryland to have Tim having to go to the hospital with pneumonia ,so my trips have been back and fourth there ,he is doing a bit better keeping him for the week end .
I painted this on our trip last week the fresh laundry at the farm , that day my little grand son also painted along with me ,it was fun !

I think we are watching a rerun of the flood in New England ,it has rained for the past two days , and the rivers are rising! but the good news Easter should be a perfect week end , I am looking forward as my entire family will be here for the Holidays , when they are all here we are now 15 at the table, lots of cooking ahead ! all have their favorites on request .

Painted this mini during a lunch break at snow camp ,I later painted a 16 x20 of this scene . Still thinking of the wonderful week end I had at the workshop and all the nice artists I met .
I am slowly trying to get back in my routine , like today's breakfast club, they were all exited to hear all my experience up north .
We have a show opening on Saturday at the Chelmsford public library. will write more details tomorrow .

Came back from my morning walk , to see this sky come up while having my coffee , I couldn't resit the scene. When my friend and I walk in the morning it is still dark at 6AM , my daughter-in-law gave me a light to have on my head just like the coal minors , it's funny but it really helps to see where you are going and with the dogs , so when we get back the day light is just coming up .Today it was not so cold , we are suppose to have a few warm days before we get blasted again! I still like winter with all it's beauty ,I would rather be cold than hot and humid and miserable !

The studio is back to a working space , decorations put away , started on commissions this afternoon I am working on 10 miniatures for a collector all oils , I must say it felt good to work in oil again after two months only working in watercolor , I really love all the medium equally somewhat of a curse !
This miniature is from my last trip to the Maine cost just before Christmas .

Snowing all day! Kids and grand kids went home for a 450 miles trip back to Maryland .
the house is so quiet , but the wind outside is howling ,this is New England and we are in for a stormy night !

My life being busy being a grandmother right now ,only permits me to be in the studio between cooking meals. Just came back from Maine , a wonderful two days in the Camden area ,to see snow on the rocky coast was very pretty, all the villages decorated for the holidays ,it looked like a Christmas card everywhere. This was the scene yesterday morning on Owls head a very quint peninsula south of Rockland, I took lots of photos for future work , only had time to do this little one while there.
Our stay at the Inn was wonderful , I recommend this Inn if you are in the area The Hartstone Inn.

A very cold day again , and waiting for the snow to come , my son in Maryland has 18 inches as of tonight . Everyone will have a nice white Christmas , it's nice when you are home , but feel bad for the ones who are traveling right now ,this was a scene from a few days ago , i tried to remember what it looked like , when you are driving and you say to yourself , I am going to paint this .these little ones give me an idea if i want to do a larger one. Coming back from my walk this morning , sat in my studio with a cup of coffee and this is what I witness the sun coming up ,the watercolors were ready and I went to work right away , I took the road out and made a field ,the beauty of being an artist is to change things you don't want in your painting , it's a small one but a cute one , and trading cards collectors love them .

I went to my blog and did not recognized it, I changed the background , not sure if I like it yet , blue is a better summer color, will see !
Just came back from a nice dinner with friends, it was so nice to see them, a couple years had past , time goes so fast in this world of our busy lives!

Another miniature! that is all the time I have this week , while working on some other projects.
sometimes doing a small one like this gives me an idea if it will work on a bigger format. I am also getting ready for next week going on my two week stay in Lubec, something I do every year .I just hope the weather clears up in New England for the month of August , it has rained for the last two months .These miniature come with a certificate and a beautiful card .
