Here are the weeds and wildflowers for Daily Painter's garden party on Saturday .
This is a plein air painting of my summer stay at Quoddy, A great State park to visit .You are able to see the Canadian island of Grand Manan from where I was painting.
I have painted this lighthouse a few times , I have spend my summers in the area of Maine for the last fifteen years, a beautiful place for an artist to plein air paint .
I have been in a watercolor mode these days ,with summer flowers all around me I guess watercolor is a better medium. Well today was a very hot day , one more before it cools off a bit, I know why I don't live in Florida .
This was my afternoon watercolor on my day in Kennebunkport, this church is where the Presidents go while at their summer home , this church is located next to their house over looking the ocean , just beautiful!
Voila, a few flowers from my garden , I brought my vase with me to capture my fresh flowers. I use my gallery sitting time to paint my daily painting while also meeting very nice people of the town of Hollis,NH . The gallery owner Kevin has also been very nice with tips about framing , his shop is very people friendly ,anyone in the area should use his expertise on framing if they are looking for one.
A summer place where I want to be !
In our way home last night , a farmer in town had his strawberries for sale on a table ,the honor system ! what a wonderful way to buy fresh fruit from that day. Before I washed them I knew , I wanted to paint them with my favorite old French towel , it just reminds me of home when I grew up, all kitchen towels looked like that , blue or red.
This is a house where I changed the scenery, It is by the Sea ,but a street over and no flowers , the house was for sale and not so attractive . I took an artist licence to paint this scene.
Beautiful day, I was at the gallery for a few hours and worked on this pastel of a photo I took last summer in Maine when the tide was in .I think the contest has started in Daily Painters to paint 2000 paintings this month, this will be #1 for me , but it is actually #200 since November .
I am on my Maine mode right now, I have been busy with gallery duty & commissions , all I really want to do is escape and paint in the fields of nature, this is one I have painted on my escapes .
To continue my small series of lobster boats , at the place I love to paint the most!
While being at the gallery, I started this painting , I am at the beginning stage with the hard pastel blocking in some of the colors , establishing my lights and dark , the scene is of a house next to the gallery. The rhododendrons are so nice now! but I will paint them last.
I went back to my last sky to make a set of four. I worked on it while at the gallery today, I will be spending some time there everyday while being the artist in residence.
I will post only a few more of the French show ,before returning to the daily routine, I am right now working on some commissions and the dateline is almost here , also trying to spend time at the gallery to meet potential collectors. My days are full from morning to night.
Here is another large painting in the show, I was a the gallery for a few hours working on a commission and greeting local visitors to the show , the gallery is next to the post office.
The month of June ,the show has travelled to another location , only a few miles from my house in Massachusetts.
This is the time when gardens come to life , and a great time to capture the beauty of your labor .
If you have been reading my blog or at least followed my work , you must have noticed my love for old houses, ever since I was a young girl , I have drawn houses on every piece of paper I could find . living in New England has been wonderful for me, I never run out of subject like these old timers. I would love to be able to finds homes for them , at least a nice wall! my work is all originals ,one of a kind and copyrighted.
