Just coming back from France, it has me in a French scenes mode, I took this photo a few years back when I used to go visit my mother it was always in November, I had captured this row of trees that leaded to a small chateau, I just loved the shadows across, I had painted this scene in oil and always wanted to try it in pastel! I came across this beaver dam recently on one of our Sunday drive in New Hampshire, Beavers are  incredible  builders it is amazing what they do with those two front teeth and tails, it was a sunny day just a light coat of ice floating around. We have been bless with this winter ,but I do miss the snow because I love the beauty of it and makes nice subjects to paint, I now just assumes it gets to Spring so the landscape looks a little better.

I am now working on a commission of a large painting, I worked on it all day, so far I am happy with it,I will post it tomorrow.
My other job will be to decorate my house, I have not started yet, going to the attic to drag everything out is a job!  and no time to do it .
Many have seen a little fishing shack like this one, maybe it even brings memories when you were a kid fishing, this painting needs a home !

Proud to be an American Farmer

Working from my recent Maryland trip, wanted to paint them before I loose the interest with the Holidays coming , I love farms  and barns , this one caught my attention first the red barn and this farmer must be proud to be an American and I love that !In Maryland the farms are so clean and well kept ,wish it was like that everywhere.
I am also working very hard for our two open house week ends in December , I am making beautiful paste paper ,good for scrap booking also making small journals , they all will be at the studio for sale .

Snowed all day today , so what better time to finish the painting I started at snow camp , specially while I am still in the mood . I knew we couldn't have breakfast club today!
I took a few brakes to shovel, feed my birds ,they ate like no tomorrow , most of the time they was about 10 birds at the feeder all kinds my beautiful cardinals sparrows doves titmouse and more. Then I made my famous crepe batter , posted the recipe on Facebook ,today was the official crepe day in France ,called Chandeleur ! Tim and I just had our crepes for deserts and they were delicious .
I hope I will be able to go to my studio tomorrow , we do have a lot of snow, probably 4 feet on the ground and huge mountains in the yard .

The last few day we had a beautiful moon ,I wanted to paint every time I went out with the dog or check on my chickens ,walking early in the morning it was still up . Today at the studio I decided to make a scene of my recollection of the moon . I had gone to my studio to clean after the workshop I gave a few days ago and the pastels were still out ready for me to paint with,

Painted this a few days ago at my studio ,it was from a photo I had taken before , Pepperell still has beautiful fields .
Actually today Tim and I went to Boston to see the city under snow , snow it was ! the cars were still buried in a lot of street , the street were very narrow, they were so much snow and no where to put it ,it was a beautiful day so lots people were walking , we also went down memory lane sight scene for Tim , where he went to school where he used to live ,where his relatives lived , from down town to the common to Newburry Street to Somerville ,Charlestown and the North end ,took some nice photos . Stop on the way home for a nice supper , Nice Day !

A dreary Sunday today, the sun never came out ! Sunday is not one of my favorite day unless I am doing something. I decided to fix a painting I painted on location back in the late Winter early Spring , I was exited with the water rushing , I had captured the rushing water but was never crazy of the background ,so it sat in the floor of the Studio all Summer ,I decided to give it a fall look ! I feel better now .

I am back after a wonderful six days in Maine , took a break from painting , first time in a long time , and did some fun things like sewing , baking , hiking and just plain enjoying the nature around me . The colors are changing fast, one day I went to town to meet my friend for lunch and the trees had changed over night . I do love this time of year ,I know I will enjoy painting my favorite scenes of fall , I first have to be active in the open studios in Lowell this week end .
So if you are in the area , don't forget the open studios this week end !

Beautiful September day painting Plein air with a few friends in Pepperell , Yesterday afternoon I had found this scene and liked it very much , this morning the shadows were stronger ,so I decided to do it again larger in Pastel , it has a different feel , the color are more brilliant , I was happy with it ! I want to go back there for a few more scenes I have sketched, September has to be the greatest month to paint outdoors !
We finish our morning with a nice lunch at the Gypsy cafe in town , great food !

Another miniature! that is all the time I have this week , while working on some other projects.
sometimes doing a small one like this gives me an idea if it will work on a bigger format. I am also getting ready for next week going on my two week stay in Lubec, something I do every year .I just hope the weather clears up in New England for the month of August , it has rained for the last two months .These miniature come with a certificate and a beautiful card .

The days are getting longer and when I walk in the morning with my friends and our dogs we do a lot of talking and a lot of look! look! at the sky , the colors are different every day , this one was yesterday , as you see we still have snow on the ground .

The weather has gone crazy in parts of the states , Snow! Oh no ,not yet, fall is not over!
Well tonight I painted this nice fall scene in front of an audience at the Chelmsford Art Society, it went very well , I also talked about blogging and many other art related things , I could of talked all night with a very nice group of artists .

Went out plein air this morning , it was cool in the house but beautiful outside, a perfect September day! I live in a beautiful area ,five minutes from my house and the scenes are endless in the back roads of New England . The colors are starting to peak, the fields have the ends of the summer harvest ,this time is short and I must capture the moment .
