Watercolor 12x16
Winter fields at the Sunset Hill Inn

Another painting from my trip up North ,while it was cold and snowing, I still could paint under the deck of the Inn, i was all set up with my paper and palette ,as I was putting a wash on the paper  and noticed it turned to crystals almost immediately but kept on painting ,then the color was also freezing on my palette , it was kind of fun to see it ! working fast I kept on painting and later came in and watch my painting defrosted , I was left  with some nice effects on the paper ,I probably should of put some alcohol in my water and this wouldn't happened .
This watercolor is available ,

Sunset hill Inn golf house

6x8 watercolor
©2016 Nita Leger Casey
Last month my friends and I had gone painting in the White mountains, this year being a strange Winter, we went with all intentions to paint snow, but all we found was dormant grass that would turned gold with an Alpine glow in the evening and this was the golf course in front of the Inn, I had gone previous years and painted this same scene with lost of snow! I am not complaining because last year we got more then our share .  This watercolor is available, email me if you are interested ,nlcasey@charter.net

Alpine glow on Mt Lafayette

This is Mt Lafayette with an evening Alpine glow ,
5x7 watercolor ©2016 Nita Leger Casey
My friends and I had a wonderful two days Plein Air painting up in the White Mountains of NH. We didn't have snow but the scenery was just beautiful, the company was great! when you get six artists together who have the same interest ,paint, paint and more paint ....and we did, non stop! the first day was warm weather perfect for Plein air, the second was a rain storm, but nothing stopped us, the accommodations at the Inn is perfect, we could paint from inside with the view of Mt Lafayette under the clouds. In the evening we found a couple restaurants that accommodated our taste for the local culinary.

North Country beauty

oil, 5x7copyrighted 2011
Nita Leger Casey
I was thinking a few years ago I painted in the White Mountains of NH, It was so cold but beautiful, this is a painting I had done then from the small village below the Inn were we stayed, at the time it did remind me of the Adro Hibbard paintings I had seen in magazines, since then I have seen over 150 of them last fall in Rockport, MA, I must say I really love his work, but then again I love New England! We are waiting for more snow tomorrow more paintings to be done!
this painting is sold.

Sugar Hill village
oil on board 9x12, (c) 2011
Nita Leger Casey
Snowed all day today , so what better time to finish the painting I started at snow camp , specially while I am still in the mood . I knew we couldn't have breakfast club today!
I took a few brakes to shovel, feed my birds ,they ate like no tomorrow , most of the time they was about 10 birds at the feeder all kinds my beautiful cardinals sparrows doves titmouse and more. Then I made my famous crepe batter , posted the recipe on Facebook ,today was the official crepe day in France ,called Chandeleur ! Tim and I just had our crepes for deserts and they were delicious .
I hope I will be able to go to my studio tomorrow , we do have a lot of snow, probably 4 feet on the ground and huge mountains in the yard .
this painting is available ,just email me nlcasey@charter.net

The Coca Cola machine
watercolor 5x7 (C)2011
Nita Leger Casey
I just got home from a wonderful three day week end painting in the beautiful snowy mountains of NH, what we call snow camp! the sitting is at a nostalgic Grand Inn ,called the Sunset Hill house, it was an oil painting workshop ,but this morning when I looked out of my window I saw the Golf Club house under a morning sun and I couldn't help myself but paint this little scene in watercolor sitting on the edge of my bed before I came down for breakfast , it's also funny to see this Coca Cola machine with the snow . After a wonderful Breakfast we all went out in the snow ,not easy to walk in when we just had so much of it, but we managed and watched Stape paint another beauty ,and later we attacked our own ,the day was clear, Lafayette mountain and Cannon Mountain looked majestic, we also could see MT Washington at a far distance ,so this is what I worked on today a mountains scene ,I came home with 5 oils , I must do some finishing touch on them before I post them . another wonderful experience to be with fellow artists and friends .

I really need an apprentice like they had in the old days ,too bad I can't afford one and a secretary , same here can't afford it , not easy being an artist !
I do love spending time in my studio at Western Avenue with no interruptions ,check it out.
We are waiting for a snow storm witch is due , the South is getting it all ! tomorrow will be a day to really do some catch up !
email me nlcasey@charter.net if you are interested in this painting , it's a larger painting , great for a collector .

Mt Washington, NH (c)2010
8x10 oil on canvas ,

It certainly was hard leaving this beautiful place in the White Mountains and the new friends I made , it was a real experience i never imagined I could do, paint in 10 below 0 , on top a huge mountain , the third day it was a little warmer 14 degree but the wind came in the afternoon then it was like 20 below . My body was warm all the time but my toes was another story, these warmer packs you put in your shoes did not work, the other challenge was painting with heavy gloves , I wipes out a lot of areas before i got use to it ,we were outside from 9 AM to 12 watching Stapelton Kearns doing his demo , took an hour lunch break and went back out until 4:30 PM.to paint , 2 -16 x20 and one 8x10 was produced in these three days Great workshop great teacher , and very happy to have done it, this was the painting i did before leaving . If you are brave, I recommended it .
