Cannon Mountain from Sugar Hill

Cannon Mountain from Sugar Hill   Sold
Pastel 11x14 ©2020 Nita Leger Casey

Yesterday I posted about being in South Carolina, but the week before I was at a painting retreat at  The Inn at Sunset Hill in New Hampshire . Having a great time with all my Artist friends,10 of us who have gone there for many years, and just love this place. A place we can relax and step outside to do Plein Air and forget about the rest of the world, end the day with a great meal, a glass of wine and telling wonderful stories. We did get some news about the pandemic in Europe, but seemed so distant and it would never affect us, little did we know it was coming !
The view from the Inn is just beautiful and changes by the minute of the day, this was when the sky was changing at the end of the day and managed to capture that little pink in the sky.
This painting is available , $300.00 .email me for details nlcasey@charter.net

A very enjoyable commission of two beautiful dogs ,I didn't have the best photos to work with, but knew they often sat together. The parents liked it! So that was the best part. When I do pets ,I like to do them in pastel.

Vermont Sugar house

watercolor 6x8 ©2014
Tim and I have just spent a wonderful  couple days in Quechee to celebrate our Anniversary, a beautiful area  with lots of interesting scenery like barns ,covered bridges and lots of sugar maple farms, it is the season to tap the sugar from the maple trees you have a short window to do this, cold nights and warm days of course I love to see the buckets hanging from the trees but now in large farms they just use plastic tubing to be collected in large blue buckets, progress does not help my paintings! email me if you are interested in this watercolor . nlcasey@charter.net

A Lowell street scene
watercolor 10x7 (c)2011
Nita Leger Casey
I had a great day at my studio today ,I was to meet a client who did not come ,but in the process I painted two paintings ,this one is a view from the window of my studio on the fourth floor . It was about 2:30PM as I was sketching the painting the school bus made a stop at the top of the hill , that sure helped my painting! I was told by a visitor a while back when I showed him the oil I also painted from the same window last summer ,it was the neighborhood where they filmed the" Fighter " the film that is in theaters right now and it was filmed in Lowell , I did see a trailer for the film and you do see our mill in it . This painting is for sale ,email me nlcasey@charter.net

"Challenge with two colors ", all paintings are copyrighted 2010 by
Nita Leger Casey
This was a challenge we had with the artists Breakfast club in Nashua , to use two colors , yellow ochre and burnt sienna ,adding white and black as neutral ,because I initiated the challenge ,I challenged myself to do it in four different medium ,and this is my results , the scene was mine from my photo taken in Maine at the edge of the pond !
It is amazing how many colors you will get with this simple palette, you don't need to take a lot of paint with you when you go out painting .

Don't forget , collect art ,collect original art, you will never be disappointed , it will make you happy !

My weekly trip to Boston was great today , got in town early , as I arrived there I wanted to find out the name of a building I painted few weeks ago , the most beautiful building I have scene ,I feel very attracted to it every time I go in town and now I know why , it was designed after a French chateau of the Loire Valley where I come from , curious about the building I stopped and talked to two gentleman in the park and asked about it, they were very nice and gave me a bit of history , I later walked the entire length of the park on Commonwealth avenue and just admired the beautiful architecture on each side of the park , it was a beautiful sunny day ! I always enjoy talking to people who live in the area , lots of dog walkers also and got to pet lots of them .at the end of my walk , also got the see the dignitary of the city , the mayor was inaugurating a new bike path, i took lots of photos and now have more material to paint .

I had to brake from my mode of the watercolor series I have been painting , and take the pastels out , I don't usually do the house portrait in this medium I actually prefer doing it in Watercolors but this was a special request, I still have a few hours of work on it for some details of windows door and the rocks .
Well this is a good example if anyone would be interested in a House Portrait , email me for the details . nlcasey@charter.net ,

" A Boston Spring day"
original watercolor 6x8 copyrighted 2010
Nita Leger Casey
I am really having fun with these spring scenes of Boston , I am lucky I was able to capture the beauty of the city with my weekly trips in town , I always wanted to do this but never took the time . The second thing I am enjoying is painting with my watercolor , it's a medium I always loved and was using it mostly with my greeting cards illustrations ,and doing the plein air in other medium , and now with the good weather I know I will be doing more pastels outside. Galleries do not like to show watercolors ,they don't want to deal with the glass and framing , so being on line you can buy directly from the artist ,so collectors this is your chance .
for an original painting , email me nlcasey@charter.net

" Boston Architecture "
watercolor 6x8 copyrighted 2010
Nita Leger Casey
When you visit Boston and you see what beautiful architecture was built in the 1800 ,it is a treat to visit these beautiful street of downtown Boston when most builders were artists themselves .
I think this is why I love New England !The cities, small towns and country side are just an artist dream to paint.
collectors of watercolors , email me nlcasey@charter.net
Built in 1899 for attorney Albert C. Burrage. It was home to the Burrage family until 1947. It got converted into doctor's offices, later it became the Boston Evening Clinic, later still it became a nursing home and is now condos!
Similar to homes built on New York's Fifth Avenue, it was modeled after Chenonceaux, a chateau located in the Loire Valley of France, and represents the only example of the "chateauesque" style in Boston.

This striking building was designed by Architect Charles Brigham, who also designed the additions to the State House and numerous other buildings in Boston.
You can find this mansion on Commonwealth Ave at the corner of Hereford.
