Ice out #2

Ice out #2 sold
Pastel 6x8 ©2017
Nita Leger Casey
Decided to do another scene of my Sunday drive, the ice going out is always nice with these strong colors and  perfect for a pastel, I did it early this morning before I get carried away with the endless list of chores I have to do. It was a beautiful day today, like 85 degrees, last week we had a foot of snow.

" A Boston Spring day"
original watercolor 6x8 copyrighted 2010
Nita Leger Casey
I am really having fun with these spring scenes of Boston , I am lucky I was able to capture the beauty of the city with my weekly trips in town , I always wanted to do this but never took the time . The second thing I am enjoying is painting with my watercolor , it's a medium I always loved and was using it mostly with my greeting cards illustrations ,and doing the plein air in other medium , and now with the good weather I know I will be doing more pastels outside. Galleries do not like to show watercolors ,they don't want to deal with the glass and framing , so being on line you can buy directly from the artist ,so collectors this is your chance .

"Spring Garden in the city "
miniature watercolor 2,5x3,5
Nita Leger Casey
This is # 3 of my minis of Spring in the city, I almost did not posted this one , I think I overworked it , sometimes you go a step to far , artists never know when to quit! as i wanted these little ones to be light like the Spring colors, otherwise I can paint a watercolor like an oil with tons of details and loose the affect I was after . I painted this early this morning before I went and did some yard work ,now every muscles in my body is hurting from digging turning some flower beds over , good things it's Friday Tim and I will go on our date and I will have a glass of wine ,so I am posting early tonight .
collectors of miniatures if you read this post ,give me a shout .nlcasey@charter.net

Thinking I would have a terrible day today , because I had Jury duty, I was in luck when the case did not go to trial , I was out by 10:45 , just in time to join all my friend painting plein air in a beautiful private property with all the trees in bloom , and a gracious hostess who made us a lunch ,what more could you ask? and I was able to do two daily paintings. At the court, I managed to do some sketching of a few the jurors reading the paper , it's something i would like to practice more it's figure sketching .

House Portrait Commission,copyrighted 2008
We had a wonderful fourth of July week end with the family , parade fire works and all.
I have been quite busy also with two new chickens "Rhode Island reds "I adopted them a few days ago , the only thing is my old ones are not happy about it and they are making their life miserable , I feel bad , my husband says they have to go through it the pecking order , yesterday one had enough of the abuse and flew out of the coop and ran away with the rooster next door, it was actually funny!I think I am going to have to start another blog with just chicken stories , you know like ," War Stories ".
Just have been working on a commission due tomorrow. 16x20 watercolor

House Portrait

The weather has been bad for artists this past week , I really want to capture some spring scenes before the flowers goes away, but no luck this week .

I am posting an example of a house portrait of a Victorian house , it was done from an old family picture with an updated look, the grand daughter wanted to have the house done for childhood memories. and this is why I enjoy doing house portraits , because it brings joy to people.

Sketch of Strawberry Banke

Took a Sunday ride to Portsmouth to see how the show was going at the gallery. It was a beautiful day, so I took the time to also walk around the Historic District of Strawberry Banke an do some sketching of all these wonderful old homes. We finished our day driving down the New Hampshire cost road on to Hampton and had a wonderful supper at the Old Salt. It was a perfect Sunday!

So for today all I have a 8x10 sketch in Watercolor.
