Vermont Sugar house

watercolor 6x8 ©2014
Tim and I have just spent a wonderful  couple days in Quechee to celebrate our Anniversary, a beautiful area  with lots of interesting scenery like barns ,covered bridges and lots of sugar maple farms, it is the season to tap the sugar from the maple trees you have a short window to do this, cold nights and warm days of course I love to see the buckets hanging from the trees but now in large farms they just use plastic tubing to be collected in large blue buckets, progress does not help my paintings! email me if you are interested in this watercolor . nlcasey@charter.net

Saving energy!

Watercolor 6x8
© Nita Leger Casey
When I was a child  in France we surely didn't have clothes dryer, actually never heard of them!   after visiting my family in recent years , to this day very few people use them. Electricity is very expensive and most people still hang the clothes out, the smell of clean laundry from the fresh air is so much better, funny how clothes dry even in a cold frosty day, you bring the clothes in stiff as a board ,a few minutes in the house they are fine .
Well this is a house I captured in my travels in a small town in NH .
The light was just right and the clothes just said it all, I painted this a while back and would like to find a home for this gem!

Busy Beaver

Watercolor 5x7 ,copyrighted 2012
Nita Leger Casey
I came across this beaver dam recently on one of our Sunday drive in New Hampshire, Beavers are  incredible  builders it is amazing what they do with those two front teeth and tails, it was a sunny day just a light coat of ice floating around. We have been bless with this winter ,but I do miss the snow because I love the beauty of it and makes nice subjects to paint, I now just assumes it gets to Spring so the landscape looks a little better.
this painting is available , email me nlcasey@charter.net

The moon has been just spectacular these last few days, from my window I could see it, what better place to sit in front of the window and paint this beautiful moon.

Needs Love !
Watercolor 6x8 copyrighted 2011
Nita Leger Casey
Decided to work on something that has been on my drawing table for awhile , because I was going with Tim for a routine appointment at the hospital I took my work along and did this in the waiting room , it's a large one with lots of windows and tables , so I was very comfortable , a few patients stopped by to see what i was doing and gave me lots of compliments . always nice !
This old car was down the street from our house in Pepperell and every time I went by it I wanted to paint this old beauty . I have a son who loves to bring them back to life and spends a lot of time in restorations , wondering what he will say when he sees this painting .
this painting is for sale , just email me if you are interested $125.00 including matting and shipping in US

Winter morning two
Watercolor miniature ,(C) 2011
Nita Leger Casey
It's cold and sure feel like snow is coming , the morning skies are still beautiful and this one again from my window , of course i should start getting brave and go out to paint it , but choose from my window again ,I am lucky to live on Main Street and have an empty field across the street and two acres in my back yard, in a bad day I can paint many scenes, actually today I let the chickens out enough patches of dry land for them to go and peck , I have a feeling they will be stuck in the coop after tonight's snow storm .
My miniatures come with a beautiful card and a certificate if authenticity and are very reasonable for an original , $25.00 + $1.50shipping . email me if you are interested nlcasey@charter.net

"Hollis barn " (c)2010 miniature oil on canvas board ,
Nita Leger Casey
A beautiful winter sunny day today, started my day with the usual walk at 6AM, still very dark at that hour , but my daughter -in-law gave me one of those lights you put on your head , they are great! especially now that we have ice on the sidewalk , it melts during the day and freeze at night, Clancy is pretty good he knows not to pull at that time .
Now as for today , if I was a male artist I would of gone painting out in the snow all day , but as the women I have to clean, do laundry, walk the dog shop for food cook ,post office run etc... and then I squeeze a painting, well today I was a bit mad about that, just not fair! At least on my way to the store I took a picture of this barn in the next town , of course over the years I have taken dozens of photos of that same barn ,but it always look different . In 10 days i will be at snow camp for three days and will be painting with no interruption .
As previous this a miniature that come well presented .email me if you are interested. nlcasey@charter.net

Homage to Andrew Wyeth " the Olson house"/studio/ museum
Watercolor 15 x 22 copyrighted 2006
A sad day for the art world , Andrew Wyeth passed away today at the age of 91. one of the best American painter . The painting above, I painted couple years ago for a demonstration for the Lexington art society it was done in front of an audience in a couple hours . I have visited the Olson house in Cushing a few times and always been fascinated by it , this is where he painted Christyna's world , one of the most famous painting ,the house is part of the the Farnsworth Museum in Rockland , Maine
they have the largest art collection of all the Wyeth family . Every year my friends and I stop there on our way to Lubec .I have seen the house in the winter , spring and summer , a beautiful place to visit ,tourists come from all over the world to see it .

"House on winter hill "
6x8 oil on Wallis paper
copyrighted 2008

Winter is coming upon us fast, so I decided to start painting some winter scenes , I love old houses so when I have a chance to see one with some character, I always take pictures , this one is in deep Maryland Washington county , I have a son who lives in the area and I get to explore the back roads of Maryland at times.
Small paintings like this are a great way to start collecting scenes with different seasons,or different styles ,I never get tired to look at my own collection of art from other artists. email me if you are interested , nlcasey@charter.net
