I have been at my cabin for a week ,and this was the first time I was able to go out and paint ,it has rained  most every day! it's a good thing I had some other projects to do. I really though I would of painted a lot more ,I did do some sketching! I really want to do more of it, I enjoy the process and love the turn all my pages at night to see what I have done .

Just a small gem of a favorite spot of mine in the summer. I have painted this scene in many different style and medium, and never get tired of the scene.
Just came back from  a nice week end in Maine with Tim and my doggy, just to open up our small mountain cabin, It is so nice to see everyone back at the pond after a long winter, the loons are back as well as the ducks and geese. Looking foward to paint from there part of the summer.

The Carrabassett River is a beautiful river along the Western Mountains of Maine ,also another place where my kids and grand children love to go in the summer for a cool swim.

I was looking  at old photos and found this one of the falls in Maine, I took this photo longtime ago when the kids used to go there to swim also like to scare me in the process of their disappearing act under the falls, the tricks that you kids do to make their mother scream in panic!

I am in the process of painting a series of minis for a client so this was the first one for this batch !

Still in a miniature mode with a limited palette, a good size while painting my  larger watercolors for my show in November, but  not for viewing yet ,I would like to be a surprise for the show , this is going to be hard for me !
Next week we have open studios on Saturday the third of March noon to 5PM, stop by if you are in the area .
I have sign up with Pinterest also , what a site !I could spend too much time there .what did we do before the Internet ?

These little guys come at my feeder everyday, they are very cute ! I know one thing birds like good food, forget the cheap grain stuff ,we bought some and they are snobing us right now and going next door, I had told Tim don't get the cheap one, I guess it will take a trip to the store tomorrow .
I had a wonderful day with my friends today at Breakfast Club, all of us are artists! we had our regular meeting of networking and critiquing paintings, after we went out for yearly Christmas lunch at an Italian restaurant ,some of us have been friends for over 20 years .

Well we have escaped the worst of Irene with some broken branches and a broken dead tree, lots of debris ,but never lost power ,only a flicker. I feel bad for the rest of some New England towns who are flooded and have no power, weather sure can be strange at times . For the next few days I will be posting some miniatures , part of an order for a collector , he loves birds ,cats dogs etc.. so I think I will be doing a few of them. I do take orders for miniatures if you are ever interested , they are $25.00

Working with my pastel , sorting and cleaning them , a day workshop tomorrow at my studio . should be fun ! today my friend Susan came to visit at the studio , we painted together in total peace and quiet . The weather was beautiful today, an lots of snow melted .

It's cold and sure feel like snow is coming , the morning skies are still beautiful and this one again from my window , of course i should start getting brave and go out to paint it , but choose from my window again ,I am lucky to live on Main Street and have an empty field across the street and two acres in my back yard, in a bad day I can paint many scenes, actually today I let the chickens out enough patches of dry land for them to go and peck , I have a feeling they will be stuck in the coop after tonight's snow storm .

Yesterday I went to the studios , had lunch with some friends and went up to my own studio to clean up a little , my mind was not on creating much , but forced myself thinking I did not come all this way for nothing so I picked up my brush and worked on a miniature , this time on copper, a typical scene I see just about everywhere around here after a snow storm .
Then today I met all my Friends at the artists Breakfast Club and we talked about shows and workshops and it seems like life is getting back to normal , Holidays and sickness can really take you of course . So happy to have a great group of friends !

Can't you tell I love red ? it has to be my favorite colors , on my clothes my interiors my paintings , my car, of course that just got me a speeding ticket last fall , I think cops love to stop red cars .
Well we had another very hot day today , actually went to Boston but was too hot to paint there , I stayed in the air conditioned building and sketched some people reading the newspaper , a good exercise to do ounce in a while , I have a small book with me at all times when I am waiting for someone .Tomorrow we are going back to the Hollis common to paint , early before it gets too hot, I think this weather is going to break by Saturday with some rain, we hope all the lawns are brown .
Sunday the big trip to Maine about height hours of driving to my favorite painting spot.

Another miniature from my retreat trip to Maine !
When you go away for a few days , so much work when you get back , emails to catch up with ,laundry, house cleaning , I sometimes feel overwhelmed , this has been my problem the last few days !
I am also in the process to get a art studio in an old mill in Lowell, called Western Avenue Art studios , a place where I could work with no interruptions, I will try it for a year and see how it goes , many of my friends are in the building so it should be fun also !

This was a miniature painted while at the retreat after the critique I also did a talk on the style and size of these miniature collectible also known as ACEO . I call them little gems , they can be matted and framed in a 5x7 frame . The Lupines where everywhere !
