"Snow fields two"
Mini 3x5 oil on copper
Nita Leger Casey
Last year when I went to Snow camp ,I met Renee Lammers who was painting on copper , me who always wants to try new things , like I don't do enough! must be a disease artists have . While in Maine this past summer I painted a few seascape and liked very much , it has a different feel to it and great for miniatures ,I wouldn't recommend this for larger work . painting with Renee again this past week end where we braced the cold together in these beautiful snow fields and exchanged ideas when we would go warm up by the fire, it was a treat .
Well today I went to clean my studio at the mill as we have open studios this Saturday ,but the weather forecast doesn't look so good more snow for Saturday , when I drove in to Lowell today the roads were very narrow , not much room left for the snow , the banks look like mountains .
Western Avenue open studios in Lowell , this Saturday noon to 5PM
this painting is available , email me nlcasey@charter.net .

Sugar Hill village
oil on board 9x12, (c) 2011
Nita Leger Casey
Snowed all day today , so what better time to finish the painting I started at snow camp , specially while I am still in the mood . I knew we couldn't have breakfast club today!
I took a few brakes to shovel, feed my birds ,they ate like no tomorrow , most of the time they was about 10 birds at the feeder all kinds my beautiful cardinals sparrows doves titmouse and more. Then I made my famous crepe batter , posted the recipe on Facebook ,today was the official crepe day in France ,called Chandeleur ! Tim and I just had our crepes for deserts and they were delicious .
I hope I will be able to go to my studio tomorrow , we do have a lot of snow, probably 4 feet on the ground and huge mountains in the yard .
this painting is available ,just email me nlcasey@charter.net

Snow Fields at Sunset Hill
16x20 oil on canvas , (c) 2011
Nita Leger Casey
We are in the middle of a blizzard expecting two feet ! coming from snow camp with Stapelton Kearns and anxious to paint more snow scene ,Well I won't have to go far, the big beautiful mountains will be missing but I am sure I will find some great landscape right here in Pepperell .
I really want to try some of the techniques Stape showed us , I am really getting to like the old Aldro Hibbard paintings more and more ,after talking about them the entire week end ,over the years I have seeing many of them specially when I visit the Vose Gallery in Newburry Street in Boston who have a collection of them , they are very impressive ,I must say he had a way with snow , Stape has been walking in his footstep and producing some beautiful work as well . I truly enjoyed this last workshop ,I feel so fortunate to live in this beautiful New England !
Next Saturday , Open Studios at Western Avenue ,noon to 5 , hope to see some of my friends there .
