My family and I made a quick trip to Ireland over Thanksgiving, a Memorial trip for my husband who passed away almost a year ago, the trip was a success, I am now just catching up on commission work . I really want to paint a few Irish scenes, it will be next !
but for now, I did this quick little pastel before I left and just posting now! I love this little church on the coast of Maine, a special place for the Bush family .
It is available ,email me NLCASEY@CHARTER.NET

Somewhere in Maine
watercolor 5x7 mated and framed to 8x10
© Nita Leger Casey
I just love this little painting and really wish someone would give a small space, on a nice wall in their house for it to find a nice home, specially if you are a regular in Maine, like in the Kennebunkport area ,you might of gone to that shop .I always say most painting will find a collector, sometimes it just takes time, over the week end I sold one I had painted 10 years ago, the lady who bought it was very happy . This one is $150.00 framed, free shipping in the US .email me if you are interested ? nlcasey@charter.net

St Anne's Kennebunkport
6x6 oil (C)2012

After looking for something to post tonight being under the weather for a few days, and not being able to paint what came to mind after watching this terrible tragedy in Connecticut was this beautiful peaceful small church by the sea in Maine. May they all be Angels in heaven!

Went to the studio and had a good working day, planed a medium size painting ,the drawing is done, it will be for my show in November. I cleaned the Loading dock gallery, it was my turn for the duty, that place is big, got my exercise doing that, went back upstairs and painted this scene, it was on my list for sometimes, i love those little store fronts of restaurants on the coast of Maine , this one I think was close to Kennebunkport.
It is available, just email me if you are interested, nlcasey@charter.net.

I didn't think I would still be painting snow scenes, but when it snows outside it is hard to think of anything else , I had a piece of copper in front of me and wanted to see if I could get the same effect as the last one on a wood panel by using the same colors , close I guess ! painted the church from the front view .
Went to an opening at the Whistler house Museum yesterday ,this small museum has an amazing collection of wonderful New England Artist from 19 th century to early 20 th century like Frank Benson, Aldro Hibbard , Cullen Yates , William Phelps and more , a must see if you are visiting Lowell the birth place of James McNeil Whistler , famous for Whistler's mother .
the Museum is also located very near my studio .

I had a great day today , going to Maine with my two friends, our destination was The Pastel Painters of Maine meeting at Heartwood college , but I made my friends get up early so we could go take sight scene ride to the wonderful Kennebunkport village before the meeting , it was quiet and peaceful not your usual busy tourist attraction , drove down Ocean Avenue to see all the beautiful homes and go By st Ann's church , I have painted this church a few times but never in the winter , so here is is painted with a limited palette ,witch I think I will do more , i love all the range of muted colors .The meeting was very nice seeing friends again ,first time since last year , it's about 100 miles from my house so I do not see them as ofter as I want , a Lecture with a pastel artist Tim Parks was very interesting , a Master pastelist!
a stop in Portsmouth made the day complete .

11x14 oil on canvas
I choose this scene , as it is a popular church in town over looking the ocean, many weddings and important ceremonies have taking place there , the latest event was President Bush senior who made a parachute jump at age 85, and landed at this spot. the painting was sold that night at the event, at the fresh paint auction .
Email me if you would be interested in a painting similar , I do take commissions
