Just a small gem of a favorite spot of mine in the summer. I have painted this scene in many different style and medium, and never get tired of the scene.
Just came back from  a nice week end in Maine with Tim and my doggy, just to open up our small mountain cabin, It is so nice to see everyone back at the pond after a long winter, the loons are back as well as the ducks and geese. Looking foward to paint from there part of the summer.

Last year I visited this beautiful garden in Massachusetts called Tower Hill gardens, they had the most beautiful big garden pottery and off course the most beautiful flowers.
I am having fun painting these miniatures ,but also can't wait to get back to my larger work!

We have just experience a week of unthinkable terror on our wonderful city of Boston, it had us glued to the TV this entire week, it was hard to concentrate on painting while people were in such pain and terror until they were arrested. We our proud of our Boston police !
The miniature painting is from a scene in Maine a place I would like to visit soon ! the weather is warming up so I hope it will be near future.

The Carrabassett River is a beautiful river along the Western Mountains of Maine ,also another place where my kids and grand children love to go in the summer for a cool swim.

Today was a miserable day, rain sleet and snow, I think Winter came back !

I did paint most of the day, so it made my day at least a little better.

We ended the day with a nice dinner with friends!

I was looking  at old photos and found this one of the falls in Maine, I took this photo longtime ago when the kids used to go there to swim also like to scare me in the process of their disappearing act under the falls, the tricks that you kids do to make their mother scream in panic!

I am in the process of painting a series of minis for a client so this was the first one for this batch !

It has been a week since I posted, I had a bout of arthritis that kept me a bit down  and not working on new stuff, I blame the Lyme disease for it, as the stuff stays in your body forever even if you have been treated ,I don't think doctors really know what to tell you! so many people have it.
 I painted this awhile back, the ice was melting on this pond where a beaver had himself a nice little house, if you love nature  and a beaver's life this is a cute watercolor to have .

It's this time a year! the nights are cold and the days are warm a perfect time for Sugar maple syrup, if you live in New England right now, you will see buckets on the trees , I love the old buckets! I am not too happy with the new plastic one you see or bags, times have changed ! Our snow is almost all gone, crocuses  and snow bells are out, I am eager to start cleaning the yard !

Today I was on duty for gallery sitting  at a special Francophonie exhibit in Nashua ,NH.  I wanted to do something to pass the time and brought my paints with me just to sketch a little, I had no pencil to draw, just decided to use my brush and use a sepia color, it came out better than I expected, sketching is always fun to do, it is a French farm house one of my nephew restored years ago.
Thank you for all the people who gave me comforting words about my chickens ,I do miss them !

I painted this during the week but just getting to post it now, this was a scene from my recent trip to France, I just wanted to capture this great light, that got my attention while I was at this village visiting a castle above this little town, and the scene called for a watercolor .
Today was a bad day for me, my beautiful hens that I have painted a few times ,well this morning  a predator  killed them ,we think a fox my neighbor thinks a hawk ,not sure? I feel so bad for my little rooster who survived and now is all alone, he did put out a fight ,feathers all over the place.

Thinking of Summer made me paint this scene, I was looking through some quick sketches I had done on location, I knew I wanted to paint them again and this one was one of them, I love this small cove in Maine where my friends and I go every summer. Sure wish Spring was here for tomorrow but no such luck we must of got 14 inches of snow today and still  coming down ! today was my youngest son's birthday and thirty eight years ago he was born during a snow storm in Germany and I remember to be it as bad as today!

A little bet of Ireland  on this Special day! If you are Irish you will understand it!  I am not but after being married to an Irish man I feel like I am. I painted this scene last year on location when we went there about this time and had a great week there .I call it Ryan's beach but it's not the real name ,it's where they made the film Ryan's daughter year ago in the 70's

Just coming back from France, it has me in a French scenes mode, I took this photo a few years back when I used to go visit my mother it was always in November, I had captured this row of trees that leaded to a small chateau, I just loved the shadows across, I had painted this scene in oil and always wanted to try it in pastel! Snowing again! but I used the day to be productive and paint at the studios ,my friend Paula asked me to stayed and paint at her studio with Peggy ,it was a perfect day for the company! we talked while painting, I decided on this subject, the first house Tim and I lived at when we got married in France. Today was our anniversary, so I went down memory lane talking about living there in this small chateau ,this was the back of it ,the front was more elaborate ,and the landlord lived downstairs,we also had our first child there. During my last visit I stopped there,it is now an art center, it was converted like thirty years ago .

I am back! I was in France for ten days with all attentions of painting and blogging, but it did not happen,I visited with my family and had a wonderful time, I visited with 26 relatives and 15 friends, lots of catching up on a few years not being there, some friends were from my school days so it was a lot of years! the weather was not the greatest,but managed to still take a lot of photos to work from.We had snow a couple of the days ,it had been so many years since I had experienced snow there, I am used to it living in New England but it was still nice to see the difference in the landscape. A lot of wonderful meals not weight watchers and I enjoyed every bit of it .
So today was my first day going to my studio to painting this scene, just a simple village! just liked the way the sun was hitting the buildings .

 I was thinking a few years ago I painted in the White Mountains of NH, It was so cold but beautiful, this is a painting I had done then from the small village below the Inn were we stayed, at the time it did remind me of the Adro Hibbard paintings I had seen in magazines, since then I have seen over 150 of them last fall in Rockport, MA, I must say I really love his work, but then again I love New England! We are waiting for more snow tomorrow more paintings to be done!

This was a challenge photo given by my friend Denise to paint during our recent snow storm,well this was before the storm! we got about 24 inches and grounded by the Governor to stay home and off the road, it actually worked very well and our cleaning crews did a wonderful job on the Massachusetts roads .Today was a beautiful day and I did take a lot of photos, and this is why I love New England snow and all !

 Winter in New England is actually not that bad because the sun shine most days compared to a winter where I come from in France when the days are cold ,damp and grey, This is why I love New England ! and the nice red barns, a sunny day also has so many beautiful shadows, a painter's dream !
