Hills beach cottage

Hills beach cottage, Biddeford ME
Watercolor 5x7
©2017 Nita Leger Casey
In January  I took a drive along  the coast of Maine ,we barely had snow and now we are expecting a blizzard. On this drive I came upon this large cottage with the bottom windows boarded for Winter, but I just imagined how this house was waiting for it's summer residents to enjoy it's beautiful beach  with children running around ,people sitting on this wrap around porch enjoying the gorgeous Sunsets. OK, I am dreaming ! tomorrow we are getting 18 to 24 inches of snow, In March I know the snow will melt quickly and Spring will be here.
this watercolor is available.

Maine Rocks.

Just a little bit of Maine rocks . ©2016 Nita Leger Casey .
I had a pastel board with a no so good painting from a couple years ago, so I decided to add some texture to it with some Gesso and grounds for pastel, when it dried I could see rocks. Being so familiar with those rocks ,that is what I painted !
Also today I started a larger painting at my Atelier, a full  pastel sheet of a house I have admired for years in Pemaquid , exited to go back tomorrow and finish it .
This 5x7 is available , just email me nlcasey@charter.net

Actually will be going back in a couple weeks with another group of friends, I just love the coast of Maine!

A Pine on the point

9x12 pastel ©2013
Nita Leger Casey
Still posting paintings from my recent trip at Pemaquid Point in Maine. This was done on a beautiful sunny day in Plein air! when the pines grows by the ocean they do take a funny shape and grow under or over a rock in a amazing way ! you couldn't plant that if you tried ,but nature has a way to do magical tricks! this past week i was not able to paint much with family duties and more to come this week so it is a good thing I had painted  some backup.
this painting is available,  $225.00  email me nlcasey@charter.net

Cottage by the sea

5x7 pastel on board  (c)2012
Nita Leger Casey
Yesterday with full of energy and a must clean the house,  this type of work is getting the least of my favorite things to do as I get older, I remember when we lived in Italy I was so proud of cleaning every day waxing all my marble floors, dusting and waxing all the furniture, now the house gets a deep cleaning when someone comes over to stay or when I can't stand it anymore, anyway in the afternoon I got  tired if this boring job and decided to paint this little pastel.
Oh another good news I heard this Saturday while at the plant sale at our local Library, A mother of a past student was so happy to tell me that her daughter who I had for many years as an  art Student is now the Deputy Director of textile design for Martha Stewart, I was so happy to hear this, it was the best reward ever to hear of of your student has done so well, better than a prize for myself .
Before I became a daily painter I had a small art program at my house every day for over twenty years , many of my students have done wery well, so proud of them !
This painting is for sale $100.00 shipped ,email me nlcasey@charter.net

A fun night of painting at our recent retreat , we all worked on Youpo paper that Paula had brought , it was fun and fast ,we all painted something different , with this paper you never know what the result with be ,it can be control or just let the work of blending go whatever it wants to go.
