Morning sunshine
Watercolor 6x6, (c) 2012 ,
Nita Leger Casey
What better way to dry your clothes on a beautiful morning, I am always on the lookout for clotheslines , I know they are taboo in fancy neighborhoods ,but in my travels I find them, this summer I was on Campobello Island in a Monday morning , just about every house had the clothes out, I kept stopping the car to click a quick photo. It saves energy and it smells so good ! they all have a different style also , this one was cris crossing the back yard , it is an art form! also it's a bit of nostalgia to see, it makes a nice decoration for a laundry room , email me if you are interested nlcasey@charter.net

new calf at the farm
Miniature , acrylic (c)2012
Nita Leger Casey
One night a few years ago my friends (all artists) and I watch this little calf being born at the farm where we have our retreat , we had spent about three or four hours in the barn sitting on up side down milk bucket feeling every labor pain this poor cow was feeling, she couldn't find a comfortable place ,all of us being mothers, we knew what she was going through, finely one leg at a time coming out and it was not going to be easy ,thank god for the brave farmer who had to use ropes to pull that baby out with all the strenth he had , it was like a miracle! she could of never have her by herself , it was an experience I will never forget .We all loved that little calf , the next year she was so beautiful in the pasture ,she was going to be a good milker ,organic that is !

loving cat
miniature ,acrylic on board , (c)2012 sold
Nita Leger Casey
Again working with a limited palette , I really like these colors ! this was a commission miniature , my collector loved my cat Molly, she was the best cat ever, we had her for 19 years , we still miss her after two years gone, maybe one day we will get another one but I don't think I will ever find one as good as her.

Couple years ago I was painting at a farm in Maine who had a lot of chickens ,I took pictures of them and forgot about them until I was looking for something else and here he was a proud big rooster, having chickens I am found of them , a lot of people don't like roosters, but I must give them credit they watch their girls, will find food for them and call them never eat before they do ,watch the sky for predators, get them in the coop on time , my little rooster is busy all day ! of course he gets some perks with that! this one is for a client, but if you want one very similar as a miniature ,let me know .nlcasey@charter.net

Busy Beaver #3 Acrylic version
Acrylic 6x6 . Nita Leger Casey (c) 2012
A different version as I promised , I was going to use oil ,but I just bought some new acrylics I wanted to try, I also wanted to use a limited palette of two colors only, I had done this challenge before and really liked the colors you get by doing this, the two colors are yellow ochre and burnt sienna and black and white , this limited palette really fits the season , as I drive around right now the landscape is really in these colors . I also changed the the format to a square painting.and kept the work very loose and impressionistic.
email me nlcasey@charter.net if you have any questions , this painting is for sale .

Busy beaver # 2 pastel version
6x8 pastel copyrighted 2012
Nita Leger Casey
Decided to paint the same scene in a different medium to give you an idea any scene can be done with a different choice of paint ,some colors are just stronger and vibrant, also have to be framed differently .
If I have time tomorrow or the day after I might do an oil also . The reason I say time tomorrow I have to take my husband to have surgery on his toe, he has diabetes this dreaded disease ! he was fitted for some special shoes and it was not done right, now he has to have surgery, he couldn't feel that the shoe was too small ,I wish they would find a cure for diabetes ,it is an awful disease to have .email me if you have any questions .nlcasey@charter.net

Busy Beaver
Watercolor 5x7 ,copyrighted 2012
Nita Leger Casey
I came across this beaver dam recently on one of our Sunday drive in New Hampshire, Beavers are incredible builders it is amazing what they do with those two front teeth and tails, it was a sunny day just a light coat of ice floating around. We have been bless with this winter ,but I do miss the snow because I love the beauty of it and makes nice subjects to paint, I now just assumes it gets to Spring so the landscape looks a little better.
this painting is available , email me nlcasey@charter.net

Winter Moon
6x8 pastel on board ,copyrighted 2012
Nita Leger Casey
The moon has been just spectacular these last few days, from my window I could see it, what better place to sit in front of the window and paint this beautiful moon.
I have painted many moons before one just became the cover for a book of poems about the moon , will post later.

Coming in Pepperell
Pastel 9x12 ,copyrighted 2012
Nita Leger Casey
I went by this scene two days in a row, I kept looking at the shadows on the bright red brick, and you know when I see something that hit me, I have to paint it ! it's up the street from my house, my town is very cute and very New England I have endless scenes to paint if I want. I have chosen Pastel and kept loose ,more impressionistic style. Normally this scene should be deep in snow, it is now February and still no snow, I am sure we will get some at some point !

The restaurant
6x6 watercolor (c)2012 Nita Leger Casey
I painted at my friend Paula's studio yesterday, I just had bought a small square watercolor block of paper and wanted to try it, I always carry photos I have taken in my travel, this one was at a restaurant in Portsmouth, I just liked the way the light and shadows hit the wall, wanting to do more interiors, it was the choice for my daily painting .
email me if you are interested in this one nlcasey@charter.net
