Having a great time on my mini vacation at the pond, I start my day with a long kayak ride with my friend ,then walk the dog ,paint and not much else , the week has gone so fast!
Next week I should be a my new studio and start working on larger work.

I have spent the last few days moving in my new studio in Lowell , it has been fun, a new adventure , by September I will be totally ready!
but until then I still must catch some nice days of plein air painting in Maine .
This pastel was done in my past retreat in Lubec ,I am still finding paintings I didn't post before . they really need homes to rest on some nice wall .

This was a painting I started at our retreat last month ,I was dying to finish it ,but with my busy life it took awhile .
Well yesterday I got the call telling me, I could come and get the key for my new studio, I did not waist any time and went downtown to get it , this morning I cleaned it and tonight moved in it , so I am ready to paint away from my house studio and gallery ,no distraction just paint! it's in an old Mill ,very large windows over looking a canal , 200 artists have studios in it , the mixture of art is very interesting and exiting ,I am probably one of only a few doing traditional work .I also have a few friends in there , it should be fun !

Chicago's Millennium Park

I am back from a wonderful week end in Chicago, very impress with this beautiful city , Last time I went there was about 20 years ago, the city had a lot of new beautiful things like the Millennium park and all the flowers everywhere , also went to the Art Institute , what a collection of so many great artists , it was a real treat! and of course shopping in all the very famous stores . Well, back to reality! the worst I must say are the airports of all the things you have to do to get to the plane, the miles you have to walk to get to your gate . All in all it was a good trip and visited with many friends . I only had time to make a few minis in the hotel room .

Another view of the barn, I was a bit fascinated with this barn, I actually did it from inside the house one day , it was in view from the porch , it's always a challenge to do the same scene but different time of the day and different angle , sometimes you do not to travel far to make a painting and not to be afraid to experiment with colors .

A week has gone by since I have posted , I had a few family obligations all week and this week end coming we are having another one , so my painting time has been limited, everything happens in the summer and we must deal with it!
This painting was done during the one and only rainy day we had at our retreat, I always want to do interior and this was the perfect time to do it , I also used a limited palette in this painting.

Here is another small painting from last week ,this farmhouse was next to the house we rented , I always love those old houses in Maine , they have so much character !
this is a miniature that means it's 2,5x3,5 inches , people think I use small brushes ,I actually do not they are big brushes with a few strokes .

Well I am back home from my two weeks in Maine and Canada , it was an 8 hour drive and very tired today , finely unloaded the car , the worst is putting things away! While I was there my post were short , I wanted to write more but between the WIFI not working well ,and being very busy everyday.
In the next few days I will write more about my journey there .

This is the beautiful view from our retreat, this spot is so beautiful we do not have to go far to find endless scenes. We did go in town today in Machais , because it is my turn to cook with my friend Tammy, we went one way and came back on the cost road via Cutler ,so many beautiful vistas it took us a long time to get home lots of photos to take , our meals are so good here ,no restaurant could come close to what we make here .

Week two is starting, some of our friends have gone and others are coming, we had a wonderful time , painted 16 paintings so far! I have painted in all medium ,not sure witch one I like the best , but one things I am enjoying this limited palette and plan to do more ,the scenes just around the house have been so beautiful, I have not had the need to travel for miles the way I have done before .

This is our new farm house retreat , painted this this afternoon in the sun and fog , it sure was a beautiful day !

Same scene as yesterday from the house ,just using two colors , we had done a challenge in the Spring with my other artists friends and was telling them about it, so decided to show them the results, I went on to do a few more with my friend Tammy. the air was great ,the fog did go in and out ,what a relief from the high temperature in MA !

We are at our new farm house called Ocean Breeze , a lovely place and we are very happy,we had the last farm for 17 years , we are excited lots of new scenes to explore , we went in to town to meet old friends and see what was new , to our surprise two new restaurant ,a lovely addition to Lubec. I was on the common by 8:30 to paint this beautiful Antique house in Hollis, NH , last week all my friends painted this one , it was my turn, it was a bit cooler at that time also , I did it fast , because I had a terrible backache , I just wanted to get home on the heating pad , not what I wanted before going on a trip , so when you are in hurry you get loose with the details , I was pleased with it, I missed the socializing of the group painting all together , but I am sure they did fine , they are a wonderful group of friends to paint with .
