Just another little gem from the commission of 25 , with sitting up the studio, the extreme heat and holiday not much time to paint . I did enjoy the first Saturday open house at the Mill , met some nice people and got to meet many other artists, my friends Peggy came over with a beautiful flower arrangement and hope to get a nice painting out of it , I really think i will enjoy my stay at the Western Avenue studios .

Head Harbour Lighthouse/ East Quoddy Head Lighthouse,miniature 2,5 x 3,5 , copyrighted 2010
Nita Leger Casey sold
I am getting close to the end of my 25 mini paintings ! the worst is thinking of new subjects , I try to never repeat my scenes , I have painted this lighthouse many times but never the same angle , this was from a boat I went on whale watching , that is the only way you see this particular angle from the water .
Another hot day today , wonder what tomorrow will bring ? too hot to go to my new studio so I am hoping for some cooler weather next week !

With the little time right now ,I am happy at least to show you the miniatures I am painting for my collector .
We have loons on our pond and we love them and watch over them , I don't know how old they are , but I know they are back every Spring , we have made special nest for them ,because of the water fluctuation ,it's a good thing to do ,we count them every July and sent the report to the State of Maine , they are like family on our pond ! the sound they make is something you will never forget , they do not like plane and let you know it .
I think my studio is ready for work , today I painted the last wall , looks really good !

We are back home, after a wonderful week in Maine , today I went to the studio in Lowell ,painted some walls ,hang a few paintings , visited some friends who are in the studio already , I really think I am going to like it , hope to do a few workshops also , and off course still have my gallery at the house , it will look a lot cleaner and not so messy with less paintings all over the place . It will be a busy fall! I am told that the open studios in September are great , I should be ready for that event .
Here is another miniature for my collector .

Spring day one day and tomorrow winter land again , it sure was nice today in New England , so I don't feel so bad even if it snows it will melt fast so we can get on with Spring cleaning the yard .
I painted this mini a few days ago with the intention to paint this scene in a larger format with a different color palette , the only trouble my time is limited to paint these days , doing a lot of driving to different appointments for Tim. if you are interested in this little gem email me nlcasey@charter.net

Here is another one of my Museum series , this scene was from the Worcester museum , a few years ago .
Tim and I went for a nice Sunday afternoon ride to the ocean, Rockport was our destination ! I just love to breath the fresh ocean breeze ounce and awhile , it was well worth the drive a nice sunny day ,no snow ! but I guess it's coming . We are very fortunate to live where we are , it take an hour to be at the ocean Cape Ann ,or an hour to be on the coast of Maine an hour to be in the great mountains of New Hampshire , an hour to be in Boston , the museum etc... I just love New England!
I managed to also paint a small watercolor there of a small beach by Gloucester.

Yesterday I posted a John Singer Sargent photo from the collection of the Boston MFA and everyone wanted to know if it was a painting, and wanted to know if I paint this sort of subject , yes I have ! but I have sold them before it was posted , so here are a few of the ones I have done who are now with some collectors , this one has a Mary Cassatt in the background.

This poor house was abandoned in a beautiful landscape on the edge of a stream on Owl's Head ,sad but true, many old houses are left this way in Maine , I always feel bad when I see that ,we had just visited this small Peninsula just before Christmas. As you see I love to take a ride to visit many part of these beautiful States we call New England .
Today I visited an Artist Dennis Poirier at his studio in Maine , beautiful work who portraits New England at it's best, Check him out!
Anyone want to start a collection of small works, email me nlcasey@charter.net
