When you visit Boston and you see what beautiful architecture was built in the 1800 ,it is a treat to visit these beautiful street of downtown Boston when most builders were artists themselves .
I think this is why I love New England !The cities, small towns and country side are just an artist dream to paint.

Built in 1899 for attorney Albert C. Burrage. It was home to the Burrage family until 1947. It got converted into doctor's offices, later it became the Boston Evening Clinic, later still it became a nursing home and is now condos!
Similar to homes built on New York's Fifth Avenue, it was modeled after Chenonceaux, a chateau located in the Loire Valley of France, and represents the only example of the "chateauesque" style in Boston.

This striking building was designed by Architect Charles Brigham, who also designed the additions to the State House and numerous other buildings in Boston.
You can find this mansion on Commonwealth Ave at the corner of Hereford.

Took a few days off my wonderful series of Downtown Boston , I love the soft colors of Spring with this brown stone house on Newburry Street , I have a few more to do , but also other projects so I might not post everyday, commissions come first!
I have a challenge going with my artists Breakfast group , paint a scene working with only two colors , a few have done it already I probably will post the results later, it is amazing all the colors you can make with only yellow ochre and burnt sienna with white and black .

This is # 3 of my minis of Spring in the city, I almost did not posted this one , I think I overworked it , sometimes you go a step to far , artists never know when to quit! as i wanted these little ones to be light like the Spring colors, otherwise I can paint a watercolor like an oil with tons of details and loose the affect I was after . I painted this early this morning before I went and did some yard work ,now every muscles in my body is hurting from digging turning some flower beds over , good things it's Friday Tim and I will go on our date and I will have a glass of wine ,so I am posting early tonight .

Voila, another scene from my day in the city of Boston , this is in Boylston Street , another beautiful street to visit if you are in town , lots of restaurants and nice hotels , my timing was perfect going there with this early Spring we are having!

Went to Boston yesterday to my favorite Street and captured more scenes for my series , Spring on Newburry Street is always spectacular and this year I think it is early by a couple weeks . The Boston Marathon was the day before , plenty of visitors and tourists were in town , I stopped in a few shops it is always a treat to see the different decors and display of the beautiful things they sell in their stores . I only had time today to paint a mini , but more to come will follow , hoping to work a bit larger in the next few weeks . For the collectors of minis , this one is a gem an original watercolor .

This week end I was watching my son's dog while in Maine, Brody who is a very large Bernese Mountain dog who needs a lot of attention , like wanting to sit on my lap while I was painting , so here we have a very loose watercolor something I always want to achieve but end up with too many details , well Brody help me with this one !
Maine was fun as usual and beautiful with a Spring snow storm .
This restaurant is located in the famous Newburry Street of Boston.

Another wonderful Spring day, to come to an end for the week end , I guess we need the April showers for the flowers . I will be dog sitting my grand dog and mine for the next few days , I wonder if the dogs will let me paint or being needy and demand all my attention .
This window is a bit unusual being on the second floor, the spring flowers made it special . I will be going back to Boston next Tuesday , really want to get some good restaurant scenes .

Spending time and observing this wonderful Newburry street, looking at these different stores and how they use an artistic imagination to decorate their windows and entrances , this one the mannequin was welcoming it's costumers in a very simple brick store front , you could pass by and not noticed until you see the mannequin ,very clever!

Life is good ! Spring is here , flowering trees and daffodils ! more scenes to paint ,nature's perfect palette .
Another visit to Newburry street yesterday ,this one was short but nice ,I am still exited about this series ,I might do a few larger one also . The time is my enemy because of all the things I have to do around the house, I am working on that!

What a day today ! with 90 degree weather , went to Breakfast club this morning to meet my wonderful art friends, always so much to talk about . Later I had a few appointments ,one was to stop by the dentist and see if I could get a real appointment, he knows me so well and said come right in Nita and see what we are dealing with , well two hours later I came out with a root canal , he knows I only go there when I only have to , so he didn't want to let me go, I am happy he did ,at least the problem is sold of this tooth that gave me so much problem for two weeks , I just now have to pay the bill!
I managed to finish a spring scene from Newburry street , Spending time in town every week has me exited about this new watercolor series of Boston

Hope all my followers had a wonderful holiday , I took a brake from posting for a few days , I had a full house of guests, all my children and grandchildren came to visit , that's 14 when we are all together ,that left me little time to paint or even sit in the studio ,lots of meals to prepare , we all had a great time , they are now all safe back home .
I went to Boston again today , my husband had an appointment so that was my chance to spent couple hours in Newburry street and continue my series of brown stone boutiques , it was actually very beautiful today , lots of flowering trees in bloom ! I am still exited about my new series of dress shop, found a little time to do one tonight , after I cooked and baked all day !
I also took Tim to have a cataract operation this morning , things have come a long way , he was the first one in this morning and was out by 9AM , he rested all day ,tomorrow they will removed the patch and hopefully he will see again !

I think we are watching a rerun of the flood in New England ,it has rained for the past two days , and the rivers are rising! but the good news Easter should be a perfect week end , I am looking forward as my entire family will be here for the Holidays , when they are all here we are now 15 at the table, lots of cooking ahead ! all have their favorites on request .

Only time for a miniature today, Getting ready for all my children coming for the holidays , first set coming tonight from South Carolina , the others on Thursday from Maryland , will have a full house and I am sure my studio will be taking over .
I did make time to go to an art opening today in Rockport a fellow Daily painter Todd Bonita was having a one person show , beautiful work! also ran in to Stapelton Kearns who also came to the opening and was going to paint after , I wish I had the time to go paint myself , but needed to get back to get some baking done before kids arrived .

Here is number three boutique from the Newburry Street series, I have a few more in mind .
I painted this while having a terrible tooth ache , I can't believe I manage to finish it in time to post it, decided to see the dentist to find out he is in vacation another dentist from the next town took me in, gave me some pain killer until I see my regular dentist , he couldn't see anything with one X ray .Next week will be very busy for me , the week before Easter and all the kids and grandchildren are coming !

Here is my # 2 dress shop , fun to paint ! wish I was young again to wear these cute dresses , I love dresses , and use to wear lots of them , now our way of life is so casual , I miss it ! Some of my friends think I still dress nice but I really don't not Like I use to . When I went to Quebec last year for the first time that is where people still dress nice just to come to an art show . I think they have kept a nice tradition .
I am posting early today ,taking Tim out for his Birthday , we are off to a Brazilian restaurant !

Last week while on Newbury Street , I went to see some of my favorite Galleries , I also visited the many small dress shops and boutiques along this great Street in downtown Boston , this street are all Brown Stone shops and residence, if you visit Boston , this street is a must !
my camera on hand everywhere I go , I was fortunate to get a few good dress shop , here is my first one .

A wonderful Spring week end it was! for New England that is , because it was snowing in Texas.
Yesterday I cleaned the yard and the chicken coop , later in the afternoon Tim and i went to a chicken farm in Ashby to get some new Hens ,I had missed my chickens over the winter I needed a new batch , on the way there I found this beautiful scene with a brook , told Tim I am coming back to paint this scene , we took three hens , all different types ,stopped for ice cream and got them settled in their new homes , the neighbors came over to greet them ,they also have chickens and they spend a lot of time in my yard also , just a big family here !
So today after breakfast I decided to go back to this nice spot ,while I was painting i saw the farmer
and in the process i decided to get two more hens , I figured it was best to get five now , because it is so hard to introduced new ones at a later date , so I now have five new girls all different colors , i am sure i will paint them !
this painting still needs some work ,but decided to post it anyway .

The last few days have been pretty hectic for us , the basement got flooded ,lots of vet vac work . the town had a lot of roads close all this from this winter rain storm that hit the North East , the Nashua river goes trough our town and it went way over .
Tomorrow I will be in Boston all day , hope to visit a few galleries .
Thinking Spring is what I want now and actually today it did feel like it .
