Summer evening in Maine I don't know how I managed to paint all day today , it was a sad day here ,my cat molly who was 19 years old decided to take matters into her own hands so to speak , she was in kidney failure and I had made the decision to put her down today, well during the night she got out of a window and this morning she was no where to be found , I took breaks looking for her , I know that is what she wanted to end it natural in her own way , she was a smart and wonderful cat and we will certainly miss her terribly .She used to be a great model to paint .
This painting was fun to do ,because it had a bit of abstract quality an a bit different for me.

Shelter cove Hilton Head Island
The day was beautiful here on the island ,I managed a small painting alla Prima between my trips to different schools. Today my grand daughter turned 13 , so we had a full day of celebrations for her, I also painted her a nice birthday card of a tree with spanish moss, as we drive by this tree she always tells me it is her favorite tree.

Turquoise blue challenge

Spending the day with a group of wonderful artists from the Pastel Painters of Maine and the Pastel painters of New Hampshire , we all gathered in Nashua at a members house and had a challenge with the color turquoise blue , the still life was well arranged for all of us to do. Thank you Carolyn for your graciousness, our lunch was wonderful!
Between all of us , we had hundreds of colors sprayed out , it's funny how pastel painters never have enough colors , it's like an addiction! we actually love to look at them sometimes for months before we actually used them , we always know the newest sets available , we rater get a set of pastel than jewelry from our loved ones . Because I use all medium I know this never happens with oil painters or watercolorists . Our boxes weight a ton because we are so afraid to be with out them, sounds familiar pastel painters?
I did two paintings today , this one was for my daily ,the other was larger with flowers .

Morning Sunrise
Too cold to walk today , 0 degree and Clancy is not too happy, he is looking out the window, the sun is coming up and this is what I see out of my window. I actually did this a few days ago before my grand children got up , otherwise they would of been all over my pastels.

George

I am on a roll with my series of roosters , well this is George ,I bought him a year and half ago at the farmer's market , the local science teacher was selling him , he had been hatch in the class room as a project , he is very handsome ,has developed an attitude ! the first six months I could hold him fine , but not now , he rules the yard and my dog Clancy , I have some clips on the camera I would love to put on You tube when he chases the dog. I don't have to worried he keeps watch on the house , all roosters seems to be this way, my last one Pierre was even worst.
