Nantucket Victorian
I am painting , but mostly walls right now, a bit frustrated to be away from my easel , but I have waited years to remodel this kitchen .
A few years back I went to Nantucket , a lovely island off the coast of Massachusetts. I was attracted by this beautiful old Victorian house , I knew I wanted to do a painting of it , but before painting a full sheet in watercolor , I sketch a small one to see how could I move this house closer to the ocean . I was pleased with it so I went on and painted a larger version .
this is a miniature 3x5 original watercolor , Email me nlcasey@charter.net

Buster
I did manage to paint today between contractors , not what I am posting today, but a few days ago I painted Buster for my son's birthday , it was his dog ,but the poor thing died last year of cancer at the age of nine , we have great memories of him , he was a great dog. I used to go to the house during the day when they were at work and that's the way I remember him looking at me at the window.

Full moon tonight....
I had plan to work on a commission today , but the day just went by like a flash , we went to dinner at a relatives house and in the way home ,I noticed the moon was shinning so bright, I walked in my studio and looked across the street and there it was, so this miniature was looking out of my window , we still have a lot of snow on the ground as you see.

Turquoise blue challenge
Spending the day with a group of wonderful artists from the Pastel Painters of Maine and the Pastel painters of New Hampshire , we all gathered in Nashua at a members house and had a challenge with the color turquoise blue , the still life was well arranged for all of us to do. Thank you Carolyn for your graciousness, our lunch was wonderful!
Between all of us , we had hundreds of colors sprayed out , it's funny how pastel painters never have enough colors , it's like an addiction! we actually love to look at them sometimes for months before we actually used them , we always know the newest sets available , we rater get a set of pastel than jewelry from our loved ones . Because I use all medium I know this never happens with oil painters or watercolorists . Our boxes weight a ton because we are so afraid to be with out them, sounds familiar pastel painters?
I did two paintings today , this one was for my daily ,the other was larger with flowers .
6x6 pastel on Wallis paper . if you are interested email me nlcasey@charter.net

Window shopping
In a rainy day like today, I wanted to paint something different for me , I always see this window next to the Portsmouth Art Association when I go deliver paintings ,and always have been intrigued by it ,so last Sunday ,I took a photo of it . I changed many things on it , they still had Christmas decorations inside and out , but this is the beauty of being an Artist , we do take the Artist licence to change things.

The lonely cottage
I have spent the last two days traveling from one gallery to the other , bringing new art work .
both places to be in New Hampshire , I live on the Border , so most of my Art connections are in New Hampshire, my husband came with me for the Sunday ride going to Portsmouth , all the politicians were there!. trying to convince the public who is the best.
On our way home we took the coast road , I always look for new scenes on the coast and the sun was going down when I came upon some beautiful lobster boat in the harbor , I really want to paint them.

The Secret Garden
I have been working a commission all day, it was a good thing because the temperature was very cold , but I see Florida is also in a deep freeze .
I decided to post a past commission , from one one my collectors , She wanted a painting of her late Mom in a rose garden , an avid gardener , she wanted to remember her this way, a beautiful lady she was and for her to have this special heirloom necklace on , with only a few snapshots I was able to create the Secret Garden . A challenge ,but very enjoyable one.

Too cold to walk today , 0 degree and Clancy is not too happy, he is looking out the window, the sun is coming up and this is what I see out of my window. I actually did this a few days ago before my grand children got up , otherwise they would of been all over my pastels.
4x5 pastel matted with an acid free mat
