After spending time on Hilton Head Island a while back ,taking care of my Grandchildren for a couple weeks , after dropping then off to school I would go to this wild life refuge right off the bridge and watch these beautiful birds , they are all over the Island , I painted a few, they are white Egrets , here in New England we have Herons who look the same but a blue gray.

I do love to paint still life paintings, the red butter jar is butter bell crock, the butter always stays fresh , many great kitchens have this .

I went to my friend's house who had a model for us to paint, a challenge for me who does not do many portraits , I did have fun doing it in watercolor , it does take lots of practice to get the likeness of a person ,and I need more before I post them , I better stay with flowers and buildings. for today I am posting a painting from my collection and would really would love to find a home for this one .

Decided to do another quilt painting, not sure if I like it yet ?I think the flowers are too close to the quilt colors,the quilt is an antique I bought in South Carolina a few years back, the flowers are from my garden, the wicker chair I just bought for $ 5.00 at a garage sale. It takes a lot of prop to do a still life ,I am always looking for things .I probably will paint this quilt again with different flowers.

This is a painting I had started a few years back and never finished , today was the day , I took the pastels and gave it a makeover with a looser effect , the red door made me paint this cottage in the first place , and the Maine fire weeds are always nice when I go in the summer . Today was the Portland show , I missed not going there mostly to visit with my artists friends, but the weather has been so hot and humid I was glad I did not go after all , I sure hope they had a good day! if you are interested in this painting let me know in a email .I am asking $300.00 matted , free shipping .

While in Maine last week , I painted lots of post cards , they are a perfect sketches of scenes I wanted to do in a larger scale , a good way to work out your design or strategy of a painting, and fun to do!
I had to go to the dentist today , something I do not like to do, when the dentist looks in your mouth , he always finds things you do not want to know, like oh! you have bone lost, let's do a full set of X rays , all I can think , what is this going to cost me ? but he is a very nice dentist and knows I only go when I really have to.

I went to my blog and did not recognized it, I changed the background , not sure if I like it yet , blue is a better summer color, will see !
Just came back from a nice dinner with friends, it was so nice to see them, a couple years had past , time goes so fast in this world of our busy lives!
Here is another mini ,I love these old houses , I really would like to do another series of them .

While I was in Maine ,I also painted many miniatures , this is one of them last week's full moon, I painted this little one as the moon was rising in front of me.
We came back yesterday in a major heat wave, took me all day to empty my car of all the stuff I take up there , in between I scanned all the painting I did there , many have not been posted on my blog , some will go to some shows first. My flower garden is a disaster , weeds everywhere ,
lost one of my chicken , she was nine years old the heat was too much for her, she had a good life, but I will miss her .

I am still in Maine at my cabin in t he Western Mountains , spending a very hot week end ,we really needed this after a terrible July ,going home tomorrow.

this is a watercolor I painted on location in Lubec ,I just love old barns ,this barn was on the edge of the ocean , the fag was a nice addition ,a friend had hang the flag there because the person who lived there had passed away, it was a nice tribute to his friend .

Fresh picked Wildflowers in the pastures of the farm, we take long walks morning and night to keep in shape and burn the extra calories we eat,we bring back wildflowers back to set up still life at the farm for the ones who are not painting plein air. Our two weeks are coming to an end ,with sadness because it will be our last year here.

I must say we have been blessed with the most perfect weather these past two weeks , they are coming to the end two more days left , I have painted a lot and relaxed also,today my friend and I went to Campobello ,had lunch at the family fishery and later painted by the lighthouse, the rocks are so beautiful , the wild roses everywhere.

After three days of rest at the farm, witch I really needed before posting something I was happy with , spending the day in Lubec it's always a treat , to see the town come back really alive after so many years, shops, and galleries , new houses refurbished , just a quint town !
We are also looking for a new house for next year, we are loosing our beautiful farm , the owners need it for the organic business , 17 years using this place as our summer retreat will be hard on all of us .

Arrived yesterday under a beautiful sun, it took all day to drive here taking the coast road,stopping a few times along the way ,the best was to stop in Rockland and visit the Farnsworth museum, our yearly stop to see the show , always a treat to see new Andrew Wyeth paintings .
just went in town today to see what changed from last year,and just painted this mini as a warm up.
