After a week or more not painting I was dying to go to my Studio and make a painting , of a scene I  have been wanting to do for awhile, I have painted this neighborhood before in a watercolor, not the exact location, but this is a great place to paint,  a lot of the houses are from the 1700 .I really love this town of Portsmouth NH .

To all my followers,I am still here! these past couple months I have been very busy working for a show I am having at the loading Dock gallery in Lowell,MA.  All the paintings are larger work then small daily paintings so I  was reluctant to post them on my blog, but here is one of an old Sardine factory in  Lubec Maine ,a place I  have gone painting for many years.
 This month I am in the LDG gallery in Lowell with a dozen paintings, I also have three paintings at the Whistler Museum of art in Lowell,Ma.  I also have a painting in Portsmouth NH at The New Hampshire art association  with the Pastel painters of Maine . Found this dory on one of our Sunday drive a few weeks ago while visiting Kittery Point, Maine. Water Street, Lubec

For over twenty years, My friend and I drove to Lubec,Maine every summers  rented a farm house and painted there for two weeks. We got to know the town very well and it's wonderful people who live there. We got to paint all the back roads, fishing spot, boats and lobster shacks, including all the lighthouses and wonderful State parks. last year I didn't get to go,and really missed it. I am hoping to make a short trip there this year!

Busy square in Portsmouth

From the Southern Street scenes to the North, here is another street scene in New Hampshire in the lovely town of Portsmouth , a place I love to walk and admire the little shops and have coffee at our favorite place on the square, part of  our Sunday rides. Portsmouth has so much history, you can find houses from the early 1700 still lived in , one of the oldest port I believe. It also has beautiful galleries and restaurants. Sunset hill Inn golf house

Last month my friends and I had gone painting in the White mountains, this year being a strange Winter, we went with all intentions to paint snow, but all we found was dormant grass that would turned gold with an Alpine glow in the evening and this was the golf course in front of the Inn, I had gone previous years and painted this same scene with lost of snow! ©2016 this is a small daily painting where I used a new medium for me, I just got a new set of Acrylic inks and this was my trial painting of a scene from one of my trip on Cape Ann on the coast of Massachusetts, that was after a storm recently.

A popular French breed of cows, while in France in November, I stopped and took pictures of some.They are a very soft off white color, I have not seen any in New England, I am sure some farm have them, but not seen with my own eyes . If you come to my atelier, you will see many different cows, I love to hear the visitors talk about them ,great conversations! we have open studios this Saturday! noon to 5 , I am on the 4 th floor 407A

Alpine glow on Mt Lafayette

My friends and I had a wonderful two days Plein Air painting up in the White Mountains of NH. We didn't have snow but the scenery was just beautiful, the company was great! when you get six artists together who have the same interest ,paint, paint and more paint ....and we did, non stop! the first day was warm weather perfect for Plein air, the second was a rain storm, but nothing stopped us, the accommodations at the Inn is perfect, we could paint from inside with the view of Mt Lafayette under the clouds. In the evening we found a couple restaurants that accommodated our taste for the local culinary.

I didn't paint today, I really wanted too but other commitment that comes in your life and sometimes you have to take a break like going to church to say good bye to a  dear friend who lost her battle with cancer. Then it made me think of Maine and missing the beautiful sky by our place where we have a cabin ,when we close in October ,I  know it will be six months before I see it again, so it is something to look for, we are half way there!

I am an a Irish mode right now! I was there last Spring ,and really wanted to do more scenes from there,the year just flew by as usual! I remember being in this Pub two trip ago on a Good Friday  and no liquor was serve, but we had a nice meal! my husband 's grandmother was a Murphy, a very popular  Irish name.  This is in Dingle Co.Kerry, these are small paintings but great if you want to start a collection ,email me if you are interested nlcasey@charter.net
