After a trip to the coast yesterday I was in the mood to paint a little fishing shack, sort of painted this from memories of a beautiful Sunday in Southern Maine. Water Street, Lubec

For over twenty years, My friend and I drove to Lubec,Maine every summers  rented a farm house and painted there for two weeks. We got to know the town very well and it's wonderful people who live there. We got to paint all the back roads, fishing spot, boats and lobster shacks, including all the lighthouses and wonderful State parks. last year I didn't get to go,and really missed it. I am hoping to make a short trip there this year!

Cape Porpoise, Maine

Here is my second small painting of the year, my husband and I drove there to this cute Village  the week before Christmas. Cape Porpoise is located On route 9 pass Kennebunkport , I think it is part of the town. I  have always liked this small village with a couple restaurants and Galleries. I decided to do it in watercolor, for the past year I have neglected my watercolors, I have used it but mostly for commission work where I do a lot of details ,but my goal is to stay loose for these small post card size. email me if you are interested , nlcasey@charter.net

 Getting ready to go on my yearly painting retreat ,this is a scene close to where we are staying ,at the distance you can see the fog rolling in at Bailey's Mistake  in Lubec Maine.  It will be nice to smell the  fresh ocean air, and see the lobster boats in the morning with the fisher man going to get there catch!

Thinking of more fishing boats , I love going to these little fishing ports in the summer ,they are good subjects for my plein air painting , they are fun to be there ,see all the fisherman going to get that fresh catch . Email me if you are interested in this one .

This was a painting done in Plein air last week end , we were to have lunch with all the artists at this restaurant called Shaw's famous for their fish dinners , so I parked in their parking lot and this is the scene that was across the way , I just couldn't pass this wonderful light on the building and that's what I did first ,to capture the light , it goes so fast ! Fishing Shacks in Deer Isle ,copyrighted,2008
Well my two weeks are coming to an end ,tomorrow we will take our show down in Lubec , and starting to put all our Art gear back in the car for the long drive home on Saturday, it has been a wonderful two weeks of painting with my very good friends of fifteen years .
This was my #2 painting done in Deer Island , today I worked on some still life at the farm.

The fishing shack at Nubble light
I am at the Maine studio catching the fall colors before all the leaves come off the trees, the weather is great, tomorrow i will go to Sugarloaf USA to see all my good friends at the yearly Art show at the lodge.
I worked on my # 4 painting of the Nubble lighthouse,the color might be off , the red is a lot brighter in the painting itself. Tomorrow I will display them all together.

Campobello's Wilsons beach
The sadness of the fishing industry is gone in this small island of Campobello, this antique fishing shack/ store is about gone and will be demolished soon , this was one of the places I painted last week along with Colorado Artist Doug Dawson . This was one of my favorite !
