John Singer Sargent Challenge

Hi everyone , I am back!
The surgery went very well, three night at the Hospital , yes with pain but I survived ! I am home recuperating with the support of my family and wonderful neighbors who bring food take the dog for a walk and more, I am lucky to have so many nice friends .Visiting physical therapists who are putting me through boot camp, yes that knee has to bent more and more.... anyway I am doing fine, first day at the regular computer .
Before the surgery my art friend and I had decided to do a challenge in the watercolor style of John Singer Sargent , his show is now at the Boston Museum of fine arts, so here is my version I painted before the surgery, I took a photo of a Fountain in Savannah few years ago and painted it in a loose style . it was fun , hope to be back in a regular schedule of painting soon.
So enjoy my challenge !

Here is another one from my last trip down to Savannah ,I should be posting new work of Ireland , I have not have the time yet to paint from my trip. Yesterday I worked on the large commission of a nice peaceful scene, a buyers vision! I am almost done so that is good ,I just hope they like it, I will post it when it is done. Today I had to get new tires for my car so the day was gone .We have been blessed with beautiful hot weather just like summer .

I am sure the streets of Savannah will be having a big Party tonight , They love St Patrick's day , if you ever visited the city ,you would think you were in Dublin having a party ,so I was thinking this little painting I painted today at the studio was totally appropriate for the day !

Catching up with my South Carolina and Georgia scenes , I must do them when they are still on my mind and keeping the excitement of my recent visit ,because if you wait and think you will do them later , later never comes because you have moved on to something else ,your mind has traveled to another scene another season or another subject totally different .
The snow is melting fast can wait for Spring ,lots of cleaning needs to be done , my Chickens have been going out free all day long ,they are so happy they leave their little house and never look back until dusk ,they are so afraid I might close the door they visit the neighbors yard , I am lucky to have neighbors who spoiled them also giving them treat .This painting is available email me for details . nlcasey@charter.net . Sunday is not my favorite day ,I always seem to get get the blues unless I am out somewhere , today I really was prepared to take a drive to chase the Sunday blues but the weather was so overcast and cold we choose not to waste gas , not knowing how the sidewalks will be where I wanted to go , my destination was to be Newburryport ,the town I mentioned yesterday .
As you see I am on my street scenes mode ,this was from a photo I took in Savannah , I love that town the old part of course ,I have visited many times ,it is famous for it's special Southern cooking lady and this is her restaurant , let's see if anyone recognized the place ? the parks are great and the waterfront very tourist and funky , my grand daughter loves the candy store there . Tomorrow is valentine's day , be good to your love ones .

Artist statement

I am an Artist who has painted most of my life and enjoy every minute of it. My journey in the art world continually evolves keeping up with the time, I paint in many different medium and love them all. My collection of work is primarily in oils and I use watercolors for commissions, illustrations, and pastels for my own pleasure. My love for architecture shows in my work and many have compared my style with Edward Hopper. I feel honored to be compared with such wonderful artist. I paint daily in the studio and plein air when weather permits. I try to paint from life as much as possible. Last year I gave up teaching art after thirty years of private classes and, now enjoy my former student’s accomplishment in the arts. Many collectors around the world own my work and hope many more will in the future.

Handy Hints to Successful Art Buying Online

You can make your online art purchasing experiences a lot of fun, and stress-free, if you just take a few moments to follow some tried-and-tested advice.
These hints will give you the very best chance of finding quality works of art, and receiving the art in perfect condition.

1) If you see a piece of art you like on a favorite artist's Blog, don't be afraid to request a couple more photos of the work. Most artists will happily oblige. You might like to see close-up detail of some section... or perhaps an image to confirm the coloring is consistent.

2) Look for the artist's email address. Apart from a direct email contact, artists often post contact phone numbers. They do this for a reason. They would like you to phone them. So do it! If you'll feel better talking to a 'real person' make the call. But I would always recommend making direct email contact with the artist.It's helpful to have a line of communication from the point when you make your purchase, to the point when the work is dispatched to you. Most artists also would like the opportunity to follow up and ensure the work has arrived safely. Don't simply place your order and make your payment. Take the opportunity to communicate with the artist. It will make the whole process run more smoothly.

3) Consider purchasing more than one piece of art at a time.If you fall in love with the work of a particular artist, consider purchasing a piece and leaving it with the artist. Then, when you see another work by the same artist you wish to purchase, ask for both pieces to be sent together. This will reduce freight costs considerably. Most artists will be happy to hold a paid artwork in storage, especially if they realize it's because you wish to purchase a second piece.

4) Email the artist and ask them if they have any artworks not yet posted on their blog.Some artists don't have the time to post every piece on their blog. Or some pieces are displayed, and then taken down after a time. It doesn't hurt to ask the artist to email images of any works they have in their 'stock room'.... and it can be a way to discover secret treasures.
