Arrived at Hotel Pemaquid in Maine around 1:30 , it rained all the way here . All the artists were painting in the studio across the street from the hotel , we were all happy to see each other again, I just had a little time to do a few miniature before a critique of all the paintings produced today ,some artist had come the day before ,we later had a nice meal all together and talked about the art world.

Today was our Wednesday Breakfast club , it was nice to see all my friends again after two weeks , it rained all day today so this afternoon I looked at some of my photos from HHI and decided to do a scene from the island . Tomorrow I will be going to Maine for a mini painting retreat with 25 other pastel artists , just hope the weather clears up .

Went to Boston on some business for my husband today , the city looked great all the flowers were blooming everywhere , I just wish I had some time to do some sketching or painting , it has been my goal for so long ,just to go in the city for this only , but it seems we always have an agenda not connected to painting ,and I usually come home frustrated with all the scene that would make a nice painting , we had lunch in a very nice Irish Pub, McGreeveys , I recommend if you are in town .

We live on Main street and are very fortunate to see a good Memorial home town parade , my husband and two sons all veterans watch the parade together , later had a small cookout , a good way to start the season ! the weather was beautiful all day . I did not get to paint so I am posting something I painted earlier. this week end I will be going to a paint out for two days at Pemaquid point in Maine , I was there last year , it should be fun!

I came back last night from my trip down South after spending a wonderful week with my daughter and family , the week went by very fast , I had all attention to be painting everyday but too many commitments , visiting galleries , going out to eat , plays , baseball games etc...
also spent the day in Savannah , a town that I love , at least I came back with lots of photos to work from . email me if interested

Magnolias all over the Island, I was surprised the flower only stays beautiful for one day then turning brown ,different from the ones up north. I went to Beaufort yesterday ,a cute town full of galleries .the weather has not been the best , but still a great little vacation for me .

Well ,I surprised my kids over the week end and came to visit them in Hilton Head Island, what a treat to see my grand children's face when I arrived , priceless! Saturday their wonderful friends took all of us for a boat ride around the island , it was a perfect day ,we were on the water for 5 hours. this is a quick sketch of Harbor town .

Just spent another night at the local town meeting about the budget , not a fun night !
this was my second pastel I did yesterday when we all painted together. it was a quick very loose style , no time to touch up and sometimes I think it is the best way . the last two painting actually look good together it could be a set .

Thinking I would have a terrible day today , because I had Jury duty, I was in luck when the case did not go to trial , I was out by 10:45 , just in time to join all my friend painting plein air in a beautiful private property with all the trees in bloom , and a gracious hostess who made us a lunch ,what more could you ask? and I was able to do two daily paintings. At the court, I managed to do some sketching of a few the jurors reading the paper , it's something i would like to practice more it's figure sketching .

This is the season of nice flowering bushes everywhere, of course they are short lived , today I managed to take a few photos of scenes that I would like to paint , it will have to wait a day , as I have jury duty tomorrow , planing to bring a sketch book with me , I did that the other day waiting at the hospital , it's a good practice of doing quick sketches . Because Mother's day is in a few days , all i am thinking of is flowers , I painted this on location in Maine, they're is always fresh flowers in the small garden by the dining room window , the flowers get cut to replenish the vases around the house , just beautiful !

This painting reminds me of having a wonderful cup of tea with a mom , this is our challenge painting for the month . The next few days I will be hanging a show from the Breakfast club at our local Library ,We have a beautiful Gallery at the Library ,not too many towns have that ,the only trouble this year's budget is at stake with the down economy , so tonight I will be attending the local town meeting , very interesting and dramatic .
