La Place du Martroi " French series"

These are scenes I have wanted to do since my last trip there ten months ago, this is my home town of Orleans , the place du Martroi is in the center where the Statue of Joan of Arc stands . When you grow up in a beautiful town , with so much history as a child you take all this for granted , but I think every one is the same way . I now go back and try to be a tourist and see the city with a different eye .

Une rue de Jargeau "the French series" Sold
A nice day today for a change , I took a long walk with the dogs ,I think the nice weather is coming , I am being positive here ! I am slowly putting my house back together , my kitchen project took two months , I am glad it is over.
This afternoon I painted this street scene , could be anywhere in France , but this particular street is where my nephew had a store just before the flower pots, a book store call La Presse, he keeps tags on my blog so I will see if he noticed his old street.

Blue shutters " French series"
My husband was playing Edith Piaf songs on the computer, it got me on the mood to paint something from France , every time I go to this village where my sister lives , this house with the blue shutters speaks to me , I have taken photos in all seasons , so here is a watercolor of it , may do an oil later.

Secret cottage #3
You can tell, I want to be back in Maine to paint , so this afternoon I imagined I was back at the secret cottage that my friend and I go painting at . I have sketched and painted this little cottage so many different ways and never get tired of it , it is such a peaceful place to be, but you guest it I am keeping it a secret , it's way way up in Maine , that all!

Apple trees in bloom I know it is spring , but here in Massachusetts , it does not feel like it , I called my friend in Maine where we have a cabin and the snow banks are still 10 feet tall , it will be June by the time I get back there to paint , what a long winter it has been here . This painting I am posting is what I want to see soon , we live in a area where they're is a lot of apple trees , people come from the Boston area in the fall to pick apples .

Well here is my final version of Quoddy state park , I paint there every summer , I had planed this for a demonstration last month , but was canceled due to a snow storm , than I gave the scene to my friends at breakfast club for a winter challenge ,all have done their own version .

Nice kitty #400 post
This is my 400th post since starting this blog.
I have not talked about my kitchen , but we are finely near the end of this project and it looks great , I have waited so long for this , my house is circa 1885 and my old kitchen was probably circa 1950, so believe me I really needed one, being an Artist I always had it decorated nice , most people loved it the way it was except me , because nothing worked anymore. This week I will also have a nice new floor , i really can't wait now . All this has taking a toll on my painting , and all the framing I have to do before all the shows starts. but one thing at a time !

HHI, Pickney Island

Another Easter gone by ,the years just go so fast! we had a nice family gathering after the last three weeks being so hectic , it was nice to enjoy and relax today , it was a beautiful day but cold, I really want to see some flowers to start coming , one interesting thing is the maple sugar buckets are out on the maple trees right next to my house , cold nights warm days is perfect for collecting the syrup, I love to paint them every year .

This was a small island next to Hilton Head where I went every morning to see the birds .

Cottage from the Low Country
Spring is here in South Carolina , I just called home to Massachusetts and they are expecting snow tomorrow, I am glad I just spend two weeks here where the weather is a bit nicer , I will go home on saturday,I have spent a great time with the kids a lot of driving and tons of new scenes to do , I have explored this area, the landscape, the wildlife and got to know my way arround,
I painted this scene in Bluffton yesterday , alla prima 5x5 oil on watercolor paper .

Bluffton's oyster fishing boats
This was a quick alla prima sketch of the oyster boats in the May river in Bluffton , a cute old historic town between Savannah and Hilton Head . Today I also visited the town of Beauford , another nice old Historic town with beautiful homes ,art galleries and a great marina ,visited the Art Association ,with local artists showing the area at it's best.

HHI French bakery

I had a wonderful day today exploring the area, the small town of bluffton has a lot of history and very old south, beautiful huge spanish moss trees, I am dying to paint, I will try tomorrow , today I went to find all the good spots , also stoped at a wildlife refuge with lots of birds.
this ia a scene I did on sunday after going to the French bakery, love all the tables with the tablecoths.

Shelter cove #2 from Hilton Head SC

Posting from Hilton Head Island for the second week, still on duty here watching my grand children and squeezing a little painting in between ,the landscape is a bit different than New England ,the only thing is ,I find it hard to access the beautiful places with all the private gated communities, and no place to stop on the side of the road , the way I am used to do at home.I found this cove ,where I could paint a few scenes.

The day was beautiful here on the island ,I managed a small painting alla Prima between my trips to different schools. Today my grand daughter turned 13 , so we had a full day of celebrations for her, I also painted her a nice birthday card of a tree with spanish moss, as we drive by this tree she always tells me it is her favorite tree.

The porch at Victoria square
I have been challenged for the next couple weeks , I am a chauffeur of two grand children who have tons of activities, 9.30 pm and I have just done my last run from the theatre, my granddaughter is in the play Annie. Today,I squeezed in about a hour to paint the porch across the street from their house, while I am driving I see tons of scenes i would love to do, maybe tomorrow !
At least the weather is nice , a nice break from the snow up North.

From Victoria square
I left the Boston snow to be with my Grandchildren in Hilton Island for a couple weeks, this morning the sun was shining,the spring flowers are starting to bloom, a great change to see after having snow since November. The Island is beautiful ,and I hope to find some nice spots to paint.
